The great-grandfather of a 3-year-old Anderson boy who accidentally shot himself in the head at his home rejected a plea bargain on Tuesday that would have barred him from owning any weapons for three years while he was on probation.
"It's unacceptable," Redding criminal defense attorney Joe Gazzigli told Superior Court Judge Greg Gaul.
Gazzigli, representing John Edward Stepp, 78, of Shingletown, said after court that his client is more than willing to forfeit his federal firearms and concealed weapons permits.
