I have been to Russia several times, and like a lot of things about the country... But it is a cesspool with a collapsing economy and culture. You need to pay extreme bribes just to survive which destroys any business. If you build something nice, Putin will send his thugs to steal it from you. He literally sucks any business dry.

China has its problems, but it also has high growth because it does not suck businesses dry. China is difficult because there is so much competition. Russia is just difficult to survive in.
