In fact, he only dedicated three sentences to it:

Trump says only he can save us. Trump says you cannot trust the CDC and the medical profession, just him. Trump has not only trashed a vibrant and growing economy, but has allowed 200,000 Americans top die on his watch ,due to his incompetence.

There wasn't any widespread panic anywhere in Europe, Canada, United States. Some jerks buying up toilet paper is a nuisance, but hardly a widespread, unrestrained panic.

I believe Trump is lying yet again. He wasn't trying to prevent a panic. He is a very dumb man who downplayed the risk because he was just hoping the problem would go away ( dissapear like a miracle when weather got warm!) so it would not interfere with his reelection and MAGA rallies

This. He wasn't thinking about panic. It was all about how it would make him look.

The sad thing is that if this wasn't an election year, or if he wasn't in a 2nd term & didn't have to worry about re-election, his words & actions would have likely been pretty different. Still not leader-like, but he probably wouldn't have tried to downplay it so much.

If Trump was supposedly worried about panicking people, he would not be making the false claim that our nation is sliding inexorably into a dystopian, Kenyan-Marxist hellscape, and he is the only person in the country who can avert this imminent and terrifying catastrophe.

There are way too many posts on this forum where conservatives said COVID was no different than the common cold, talk of a dangerous risk was a Democratic hoax, and it would probably dissapear like a miracle when the weather got warm.
