Tim Ryan for minority leader

Well for a long time I believed in GOP economic theory and was a strong advocate of supply side theory but then I was challenged to study the facts on supply side theory and much to my chagrin the facts clearly showed that not one single prediction made by supply side theory has ever been validated. Not one. It simply does not work and when scrutinized just doesn't hold water. With a little more study and an open mind I determined that Keynesian's and Monetarist were far more in the right of things than Supply Siders were. The facts contradicted my beliefs.

WASHINGTON — A leading Republican lawmaker is calling for investigations into alleged Russian cyberhacks during the US election despite President-elect Donald Trump’s repeated calls for warmer ties with Moscow.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and one of the chamber’s most experienced foreign policy hands, said the attempt by a foreign country to interfere with the US voting process needs better understanding and a vigorous response.
“Assuming for a moment that we do believe that the Russian government was controlling outside organizations that hacked into our election, they should be punished,” Graham told reporters Tuesday. Referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Graham added that, “Putin should be punished.”
Graham, who wants the hearings to examine all Russia’s “misadventures throughout the world,” has the support of colleagues on both sides of the aisle. As other Republicans issued warnings about Russian activities, the hearings could become a source of tension between the GOP and the new President.
“You could see, going forward, a Congress that’s really at loggerheads with the White House on policy toward Russia,” said Angela Stent, director of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies at Georgetown University.
Graham, who ran against Trump in the Republican primaries, admitted that “clearly Donald and me have issues.” But he added that he’ll do “everything I can to help him because he will be commander in chief in dangerous times.”
Russia, Graham said, is a “bad actor.”
To that end, Graham said hearings into Russia’s activities should also address Moscow’s annexation of Crimea and interference in Ukraine, its cyberattacks against US allies, and examine whether Russia is guilty of war crimes due to its intervention and bombing campaign in Syria.

I voted libertarian, but in no way do I want the "destruction" of the Dem party.

I want a strong Democrat party. I want a strong Republican party. I never want to see another election where the choices are as lame as this past one.

If Democrats just vote Pelosi in again, it will send a strong message that they don't care about evolving.

STOP SAYING DEMOCRAT PARTY LORAX!!!

why do you call all the evidence nothing asshole

The actual "facts" are the same as they were when Trump said the election was rigged. Actual voter fraud is ridiculously low & not at all consequential. Your whole "the Russians meddled" thing is made-up sour grapes.

The Democrats got beaten on every level this past election. Even an objective observer could tell you that Hillary did not have a strong message for the workers who ultimately decided this election. I have no idea why anyone who is interested in seeing Democrats regain power, or who wants to see progressive ideals advanced, would want to maintain the status quo & keep Pelosi as leader.

Even if ONLY for symbolic purposes & perception, it's time for Democrats to make a clean break w/ the past. But this goes beyond that; if there is anyone on the Dem side who represents entrenched, establishment politics-as-usual, it's Pelosi.

I don't know much about Ryan beyond 2 interviews that I've seen, and reading a bit about his background - but he's a bright guy, and he seems to get it.

Democrats will be making a huge mistake if they don't seize this opportunity for new leadership.

I completely agree.

Pelosi, Reid, and both Clintons should get out of the way. It's time for younger, fresher, and more aggressive Sanders-esque democrats to take the lead,

The DLC should be pushed over a cliff.
