It looks like a temporary block until the other side, Fani Willis, can respond with her arguments by Thursday. At that point, Thomas will have to make another decision based on facts from both sides.

All Thomas can do is stay the lower court ruling until the higher courts take the case. If the USSC refuses to take the case then the stay by Thomas can no longer be in place.
