The idiotic idea that you can read someone's mind from a brief image caught in a photo seems well suited to bigots and racists. If you are as stupid as chlorate or ila then it seems reasonable to form wild conclusions from trivial things like the picture or what somebody did 1400 years ago.

People want to pretend that just because Islam hasn't represented the level of existential threat over the past century that it did across the many preceding centuries, that it is no longer our collective enemy. Can anyone name the date when it became the supposed religion of peace, and individual Muslims could suddenly be judged not by the actual precepts of the religion itself?

This was one woman who was obviously petrified and treated abysmally by social media in particular. I have no illusions about Salifism but why you feel the need to turn everything into a diatribe about Islam is beyond me.

I was brought up a Catholic and went to a primary school run by Irish nuns. They were a sadistic lot bar one or two and thought nothing whacking eight year olds across the palm with a bamboo cane. I think that the doctrine on birth control is pernicious and contributed greatly to the misery in Catholic countries especially South America.

I wouldn't have known anything about her if not for this thread. But if people are going to toss individual Muslims into discussions, in hopes of defending Islam, I am not going to play along. As for the Church's stance on birth control, I think you understand perfectly well why it can hold no other position, for morality's sake.

Salafism IS mainstream Sunni Islam..it's extensive and worldwide.It's a major sect of Sunni Islam.

Not all salafist are jihadists of course, but that breeds hostility to anything modern ( like post 8th century)
