This wasn't a waste of time

The prosecution really did their homework. They are laying out the case brilliantly. And it's important for Americans to see the logical progression, and connect the dots on this one.

Trump was reckless and irresponsible, and put our republic at risk. What's happening now is all about accountability. Don't give us the "he's out of office - what good will this do?" nonsense, or "this will just further divide the country!" Trump did what he did. We shouldn't sweep it under a rug.

And can you imagine any other trial where half of the jury says ahead of time that they already know what verdict they plan to render, without even seeing the evidence presented? Or where they doodle while the prosecution is making its case?

I followed these events closely and it is still shocking to see them laid out piece by piece.

I don't understand how there is any accountability even if the Senate votes to convict. However, since we know they don't have the votes there will be no conviction. Either way, accountability is only a symbolic concept.

The real accountability was the election result.

No, denying Trump from holding public office again is a profound statement of accountability.

You mean when discussing election fraud?

Actually, real accountability would occur in a criminal trial.

Assuming anyone besides the perps are accountable for anything. Apparently, that’s a sticking point.

I think there is little likelihood Trump will run for president again.

But you know the Senate does not have the votes to convict so he will just hold up an "Acquitted" newspaper headline like he did before. That is not really accountability. Getting him out of office is victory enough.

Don't agree, but no big deal.

The QOP is corrupt to the bone.

None of the Cult will see or hear this evidence. Their so-called news media will ignore it.

He violated his oath of office. Impeachable offense.

They know a lot more about Trump's ties to a transnational crime syndicate but Pelosi and Schumer are feckless and not allowing the broader hearings that we need and deserve. Flynn, Manafort and Stone are still lurking in the background.

Nobody expects trump to be punished for this. What these proceedings do, is cement trump's legacy for the history books. His brand is in the toilet, and he's got a long legal road ahead of him in the coming years.

I think he'll end up in the loony bin.

Trump will have his tiny hands fill with NY law cases. He has to somehow get lawyers who will work for free. Trump will be very busy.

Agreed. Too old, too crazy, poor health.

Not a lawyer, but there's a lot to be said about setting precedent. The documentation in the US Senate can be played in the trial (or plea dea) for every criminal who attacked the Capitol or participated in it's support.

It's illegal to support a terrorist organization. Everyone who sent money to any terrorist front to attack the Capitol, #StoptheSteal, etc and had reasonable knowledge of the plan can be prosecuted as a terrorist. No different than sending money to ISIS or the IRA.

True. We need former Trumfucks who are now watching better news to know what they were a part of.

We won by 8 million. By the time of midterms it will be 18 millions.

Agreed with all except "cement" if that means "end". This isn't over yet.

Not a lawyer but from what I saw today there was a lot of premeditation to Trump's rallies including the foreknowledge of violence. That's a lot of fucking lawsuits. Trump might die from a thousand cuts.
