It kept the Senate in line long enough for him to avoid being removed from office. He's making sure his donors keep the checks rolling in. I don't think many rally goers are big donors, so who knows if he's pandering to anyone but himself? Many report that they can't rein in these events because he needs the attention in order to survive.

Agree on all counts. I think the Supreme Court ruling against mail in ballots, coupled with numerous polling closures, is his plan for victory. Masses are inspired to vote against trump, but there were places with voters waiting for 12 hours to vote. I can envision the aforementioned base pressuring local governors to make voting harder in Blue districts.
