'This is not a drill': Stocks tank and bond yields tumble

Global stocks tanked and bond yields tumbled on Friday as investors scrambled to protect their portfolios from coronavirus. The flight to safety was fueled by fresh estimates of the epidemic's potential economic fallout.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury — which dropped below 1% for the first time earlier this week — dropped to a record low of 0.74%. The 30-year Treasury yield also slid to 1.34%, another record low.
"The bond market is scaring the raccoons out of the air ducts like crazy right now," Neil Wilson, chief market analyst for Markets.com, said in a morning note.

Let me guess Guano it's all Trumps fault.

These are world markets he's talking about. Investors are shaky because of the unresolved-as-of-now COVID-19 epidemic. Specifically, supply chain disruptions and coming shortages. BTW, do you ever read "The People's Pharmacy" website? They and others are warning ppl who take routine script and OTC meds to stock up if possible. Many of the ingredients U.S. drug makers use come from China, India, and other countries hit hard by the virus.

Supply chains are a big concern in many areas. It’s going to get interesting.

That was sarcasm.

Thanks for the info. I bought a tool on Ebay before the outbreak and the seller was in China. No surprise I haven't gotten it yet.

I had that same experience, ended up having to get my $$ back. Disappointing too because I really wanted the items (bracelet blanks).

But probably not interesting in a good way. One of my VT daughters said she stocked up on OTC stuff just in case, and that the stores were sold out of masks and hand sanitizers. Other ppl I know are saying that bottled water is getting harder to find. Why on Earth would you need bottled water in a pandemic? Are they worried that so many will be ill that the city or county water will be shut off?

The bottled water was a surprise to me, too, but I guess in areas where your water is bad, it might be a problem, go buy a pitcher or a tap filter.

I keep 20 or so gallons on hand because when the power goes out so does our well pump. Plus the kids are fussy about "yucky well water" so they'll only drink the bottled crap when they come to visit. Wussies. lol

People have seen way to many Zombie apocalypse movies and are pre-conditioned to this kind of panic!

Are there no mental health clinics in Thailand for you?

They do have some but all the staff are home sick with COVID-19. lol

I was reading that tourism is really down there, and that it's one of Thailand's major industries. H. Moron has stated that his wife owns a restaurant. Looks like hard times coming.

She runs an Isarn restaurant in Bangsaen, it caters almost exclusively to Thais. Yes, the Chinese have all buggered off home but there's still plenty of Russians, Indians and Europeans. The baht has finally gone down against the pound and euro, so word has got out that it's getting cheaper here. Funnily the Americans I see here are mostly black, they don't seem to be bothered by all the scare stories.

I love the way you were telling me how you castigated Guano for his racism yet now you're besties!! After you've had phone sex with Crypiss maybe Guano will be next?
