Tillerson knows a political mine field when he sees one, so when asked about Trump's Charlottesville comments he wisely said 'the president speaks for himself.'
When conservatives speak on race issues [or issues that are racialized by the left] they might as well read them their Miranda rights before they speak---'whatever you say, can and will be used against you.' No matter what Tillerson said, there would be a problem with it.
