Things you didn't know about Iran

"Our dear Imam said that the occupying regime (Israel) must be wiped off the map and this was a very wise statement. We cannot compromise over the issue of Palestine. Is it possible to create a new front in the heart of an old front. This would be a defeat and whoever accepts the legitimacy of this regime has in fact, signed the defeat of the Islamic world. Our dear Imam targeted the heart of the world oppressor in his struggle, meaning the occupying regime. I have no doubt that the new wave that has started in Palestine, and we witness it in the Islamic world too, will eliminate this disgraceful stain from the Islamic world."
-Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

To me, that sounds like a pledge to attack it militarily. What do you think?

My God, can't you tell the difference between bluster aka piss and wind and a real threat. Iran doesn't even have a bomb whilst Israel has over 200 so explain to me how that works?

Wait, so your contention is that Liberals were wrong about Iraq, and Cons were right?

of course liberals have been wrong about Iraq......if you're talking about WMD up to the point the war started, specifically, since they were saying the same thing conservatives were, it is obvious that if the right was wrong, the left was wrong.....if you're talking about things like "its all about oil" and "Bush lied, troops died" then the left was wrong about Iraq and the right wasn't.....if you're talking about the need to act in Iraq instead of working against an honest solution before the war, then again the left was wrong and the right was right......and, if you're talking about committing to doing it right instead of working behind the scenes to fuck everything up, then again, the left was wrong and the right was right....

Holy mother of God, this totally get my vote for the worst and most dishonest revisionist history in the history of message boards.
your vote is as worthless as your assessment of what happened...

If you were so incredibly and shockingly wrong on Iraq, I have a question for you: Why should anyone believe a bloody thing about Iran?
and I have a question for you.....if it is true that Iran is intent on building a nuclear weapon, regardless of what you think about the quality of information about Iraq, do you think it is in the best interests of the world at large to let them do it?......

And without wishing to be at all insulting, what the hell has it got to do with America? Let the 'world at large' make the decision and let America simply be an equal at the round table of the world at large.
You WERE wrong about Iraq. The world recognises your shame and sympathises to a degree. You, clearly, would disagree with the world. But then, you would, wouldn't you.

I think that when the Farsi is properly translated, it doesn't suggest a military threat.

Belief: But didn't President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threaten to "wipe Israel off the map?"

Reality: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did quote Ayatollah Khomeini to the effect that "this Occupation regime over Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time" (in rezhim-e eshghalgar-i Qods bayad as safheh-e ruzgar mahv shavad). This was not a pledge to roll tanks and invade or to launch missiles, however. It is the expression of a hope that the regime will collapse, just as the Soviet Union did. It is not a threat to kill anyone at all.

Things you didn't know about Iran........:cof1:

If the post wasn't so incredibly stupid on its face,....I'd respond....:bang:

I'm afraid your secret is out .. and everybody knows you're too stupid to respond with any sense of intelligence whatsoever. You're flat out too fucking dumb to challenge the points made in this article with facts.

I defy you to even try it.

You sir prove that being ex-military doesn't make you any smarter or more insightful about anything.

I don't disagree with the world.....just that part of it which chose to profit from Iraq during the UN imposed sanctions instead of enforcing them....folks like Russia and France for example who encouraged Saddaam to ignore the UN and sold him arms to bolster his military when sanctions were supposed to prevent it.....perhaps if they hadn't continued to block the sanctions Saddaam wouldn't have felt safe to ignore them.....

It amazes me how RW's just gloss over the fact of Israel's nukes.

we also "gloss over" North Korea's nukes....because they both had them before we knew about them......if we had had a chance to prevent either of them, or Pakistan and India from getting them, should we have done it?.....is the world better off with more countries controlling nuclear weapons?.....
