What kind of "punishment" do you think he should get?
He should be made to play for the Philadelphia Eagles!

Receiver Who Used Slur Takes Leave Amid Uproar
PHILADELPHIA — As a furor escalated over the use of a racial epithet by Eagles receiver Riley Cooper, and Philadelphia’s mayor criticized the team for issuing no punishment beyond a fine, Cooper took an indefinite leave Friday to seek counseling.
Michael A. Nutter, Philadelphia’s mayor, called the receiver’s remarks “repugnant, insensitive and ignorant.”
“This incident is a disgrace and cannot be excused by just paying a fine, as if it were a parking ticket,” Nutter, who is black, said in a statement.
Chip Kelly, the Eagles’ first-year coach, said the team planned for Cooper to return. But some of Cooper’s teammates have expressed stunned indignation at his behavior. And Nutter’s remarks seemed certain to add pressure on the Eagles to part ways with the receiver.
Had this incident involved a city official instead of an athlete, Nutter said, “I would insist on a suspension at a minimum and would seriously have to evaluate terminating such an individual.”
At a Kenny Chesney concert here in June, Cooper said he had been drinking when he argued with an African-American security guard and used a racial slur in threatening to fight every black person in sight.
After video of the incident surfaced this week, Cooper apologized to his teammates. The Eagles issued a fine of an undisclosed amount. The N.F.L. said it would take no further action.
On Friday, Cooper left the team for unspecified counseling.
“My actions were inexcusable,” Cooper, 25, said in a statement, adding that recent days had been “incredibly difficult for me. The more I think about what I did, the more disgusted I get. I keep trying to figure out how I could have said something so repulsive, and what I can do to make things better.”
He added that while team officials and his teammates had been supportive, “I also realize that there are people who will have a tough time forgiving me for what I have done.”
Nutter said that while Cooper had apologized and taken responsibility for his actions, the Eagles’ punishment of a fine “falls short of a serious recognition of just how offensive and hurtful these comments are to African-Americans and other people of good conscience who fight discrimination on many fronts.”

Quarterback Michael Vick said that it was important to focus on football and that a plan had been formed to help Cooper “become one of the guys again.”
Michael Vick may be the only friend he has left on the team.
No, I don't want him dead. I am just speaking to the reality of the situation. The N bomb is a vile word, there is never cause to use it... ever. But it is especially profoundly ignorant to do so in a profession where your colleagues are predominantly black and you are white. I doubt anyone takes a shot at him, because my guess is the players will quietly let the owners know they are not going to play with a racist piece of shit. Like McCoy, I think they will take the higher ground... but that kid should be done in the NFL.
Well if the race hustlers can't have Zimmerman they will get a pound of flesh out of Cooper.
He should have killed dogs or something like that.
You've used that word as much as anybody else has. Especially if you were young and under the influence.
He has already been disciplined and he has already apologized. Your blood lust over getting him for good is telling just because he used a taboo word and was caught using it by a cell phone.
You want his life ruined and as good as dead over a taboo slang word which the progressive establishment has labeled the worst slang word in the English language.
No, we want him to pay for being a racist asshole.
No, I have never done that. The alcohol didn't make him say it, it just relaxed his judgement enough to say it out loud.
Dang, can't think of the name of who wrote this song, it is bugging me, lol
Try looking at it from an economic standpoint. The Eagles are a business and Cooper's a product. If the product is putting the business in a bad light, it's not good for the bottom line. Maybe the Eagles management thinks exactly the same as you but in the end it's all about the benjamins.
I'm not pointing out the team's discipline. I'm pointing out room 101.
I continually ask the lynch mob here why they aren't satisfied with his formal apology and his regret over saying it, the team's disciplinary action with a fine and also pointing out his non connection with the rest of graduated America by never learning the value of earning a living and everything given to him on a silver platter by the NFL instead which contributes to him being a man child and his youthful mistake under the influence of alcohol.
The only thing he did here was use bad youthful careless judgment and violating the team's rules as an employee of the team.
So why does he now have to go to room 101?

I've been accused of "defending racism" on this thread, but this player is getting his commeuppance, and it's deserved. I take some exception to those wishing he will be physically injured on the field, but he's getting his due right now. I doubt any of us could imagine what it's like to be in the kind of spotlight that's currently shining on him.
I think what gives me pause is this new McCarthyism we seem to have. The reactions, the outrage - it all seems over-the-top, given the offenses.
