Our military budget is one of the most bloated on the planet. They take money from cancer and dementia research to fund our military.

You are correct on that. It will not be owned by Qatar. Singapore has a similar situation at MHAFB.
A part of countries buying our gear is that we usually train them up in America, and they tend to pay for that training. The Trump people were trying to play up that Qatar pays, and they fucked it up.
