"The committee can take the opening Garland gave it to announce it is glad he is following along and knows our view on Trump’s criminal liability. That should end the committee’s fussing and the annoying media chatter. It would also enable Garland to say later: “Congress didn’t force this on me. I followed the facts, just as I said I would.”

And when Garland does make a decision, he will be hard-pressed to justify allowing Trump to avoid accountability. Anyone following the hearings would readily agree.
 
the only possible reason to not move forward with that prosecution would be that biden has much to hide of his own wrongdoing that will most surely be investigated when republicans take over, therefore securing historical precedent to not criminally charge former presidents/vice presidents

who said he did? what i'm saying is that if the democrats, or you liberals, are that adamant about pursuing criminal charges against a former executive, you open the doors to all of them being criminally investigated and charged. maybe that is why merrick isn't that interested in pursuing those charges against trump, because it makes it easier for republicans to go after biden

I for one am all for it. No president is above the law. They work for us. Prosecute them if they warrant it.

Hell, half of them are considered war criminals by a hell of a lot of countries.
