There will be more non-Christians in the new Congress than ever before I can't see how that can be. Have there ever been enough Christians in America to fill the whole Congress?

I do not understand the left's hostility to religion..sure there were Crusades and fundamentalists Islam.

But I can't think of a better philosophy then Christ's teaching - way advanced back when " eye for an eye
" was common..

anyways..why the hostility? I wonder how many atheists find God on their deathbed?

I was raised catholic and while crap like pedophile priests have to get prosecuted,

We just came out of a very bloody century where religion was irrelevant to the bloodshed.

When the secularists say they want to remove religion from government—what they mean to say, is they want to install secular ideologues. IOW, if your religion informs your worldview in any way, you’re out. If you think God is a myth, you’re in.

I was basically pointing out that this has already been tried lol. And it doesn’t turn out pretty.
 
Religions seem to be about appeasing very non-okay (5 B.C tyrants who need constant praise, and I wouldn't include Buddhism or Christianity in that category.

Well that is utter bullshit. Most of us don't give a rat's ass whether someone is religious or not. We CARE about whether they try and enact their religious beliefs into law thus forcing it on the rest of us.

If you don't understand the difference yet then that is your intellectual defect. Deal with it.

I agree except I wouldn't say all the left is hostile to religion in general.

Off-topic but I've been meaning to ask you... were you still in Baltimore at the time of the murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik? I watched s series about her on Netflix and it was horrible what the priests got away with.

You have been watching way too much Fox News.

In my experience, the least "Christian" people around are the ones who try to wear it on their sleeves, or as a badge of honor.

The least religious presidents of the modern era were conservative heroes Donald J. Trumpf and Bedtime For Bonzo Raygun.

Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama were genuine Christians, even devout Christians in the case of Carter.

I know almost no militant aetheists in real life.

Outside of some message board outliers, I know almost nobody who is overtly hostile to religion.

Plenty of liberals are devout and religious, I just don't think they wear it on the sleaves, thump bibles, or visit the Creation Science museum.

The problem I think liberals have with religion, are with the strains of religion that are dogmatic, reactionary, anti-intellectual, and pro-stupidity. That would include bible thumping young-Earth evangelicals, conservative reactionary Muslims, and any religious entity that attempts to use the levers of government to enact their religious agenda
