the war against freedom

many people who favor and support the war on terror claim it's a war against freedom. that the 'terrorists' hate us for our freedom and liberties. while this is a flat out lie, especially considering that the US government has imposed even more restrictions on our liberties and freedoms to make us safer, the terrorists hate us even more, an emerging outlook is starting to make itself publicly known. The war on freedom actually started in our own country, by our own people, with the aid of our monster creation, the US government. This group of people have decried, deplored, and denigrated any and all forms of speech and actions that speak about anything remotely resembling freedom from government control. They have worked very hard to depict this thought of freedom and liberty of the individuals rights (something the founders thought very important) as something that is selfish and evil, that works completely against the greater good of a well ordered and controlled society......as long as it's their form of order and control. Nothing displays this as clearly as the new book by David Vann called 'last day on earth'.

Now, normally a book is just a book. something that is written to give a good story or information about a good or bad subject. Some of these can even be extremely biased, as are some of the books we've seen printed over the last few decades by such noted figures as Michael Moore and Glenn Beck. Over the last several years though, we've seen an emerging movement geared towards more freedom and liberty for the individual. Most likely it's coming about because more people are seeing the crushing force used by the US government to control most every aspect of the individuals life and the people are responding by adopting a more 'libertarian' viewpoint of politics. This doesn't sit well with the authoritarian minded conservatives and liberals that have dominated the mainstream politics in the USA for a very long time and they are starting to last out.

David Vanns book as about the NIU shooter and his rampage/suicide and as a result of that publishing, he sat down for an interview with the CSGV, or the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. It didn't take them long in the interview to pounce on the underlying theme of Vanns authoritarian view in his book.

CSGV: You hint briefly at Steven’s embrace of libertarianism as a factor that drove him to commit the murders. What role do you think it played?

VANN: Libertarianism favors the individual or small group above society and is therefore antithetical to most of what holds our society together. It’s very frightening. Most of our mass murderers have been libertarians. It’s the perfect political belief for them and fits well with Nietzche’s concept of the “superman,” someone above moral code. I don’t think Americans realize how frightening and dangerous libertarianism is. I would count it as the number one warning sign for a potential shooter, and it’s particularly dangerous when combined with former military service.

Numerous groups out there are surreptitiously banding together to smear the individual rights viewpoint because freedom scares the shit out of them. I think this is a good thing for Libertarians.

What do you think it is that causes these people to so strongly oppose the liberty movement? Of what are they afraid, do you think?

EDIT - I suppose I should not ask you, but I should ask any people here who agree with David Vann: What do you find so offensive about libertarianism?

You are the one grouping the TP with libertarians. I am a libertarian and the furthest thing from the TP.

excuse me? too much shit in your ears? I'm one of the ones constantly telling you that the TEA party is continually being hijacked by mainstream republicans, and MAINLY it's full of Libertarians, but not completely comprised of them.

Exactly. You are the one who says it is composed of libertarians, and admitting it has been hijacked.

Your defense of the TP is pointless. It has been hijacked. It is over. Smeared, tarnished, done for.

Seperate yourself from the jackers and stand on your own legs.
