He never said the Vicodin made him do it, no one side that, he just used it before the shooting. That isn't something Vicodin would make you more likely to decide to do. He was probably using it to calm his nerves, and had long made the decision before hand.

No, that was an invention of Granule's mind. No lawyer would use drug usage as a defense, because it's not one. Really, mostly it just stains the defendants character in the eyes of the jury.
