You missed the point of the OP.
The circumstances are similar to Germany in the '30s. That doesn't mean that it's an exact apples-to-apples comparison between Hitler & Trump. But the main point I was making was a charismatic leader who wanted to be a dictator, who no one took seriously enough. Part of the reason Hitler was able to ascend so quickly was because the people were unsuspecting, and didn't think something like that could happen.

Trump was already POTUS.
Did America collapse? No.
Did a war start? No.
Trump tried to bully an election - and failed...the system worked.
And EVERY politician wants total power. Why would they not?
