The vast majority of gun owners in this country are law-abiding citizens

whether or not you can accomplish that doesn't address the key issue. Why do you act as though it's so crazy for a government to descend into corruption? It's happened thousands of times in human history. It's happened plenty of times just in the last century. What makes us immune?

No one is gearing up for an "inevitable" war. But when it comes to our lives and individual liberty, having a last resort doesn't seem to be that impractical. We know for a FACT governments have descended into tyranny before. It's not as crazy sounding as you would like it to be.

True story: One of my best friends in the military was an avid gun collector and even more avid NRA follower. He always claimed to be a responsible gun owner. Until the day his 13 year old son blew his brains out with a gun he found hidden in the home. It destroyed his life.

Family members of 1 of 5 people hit by an SUV in Port Arthur say their loved one remains in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

Witnesses say the driver plowed the large vehicle into a crowd. Officers say it may have been done intentionally.


Port Arthur Police are looking for the person who drove their SUV into a group of people outside the "Swagga's" club before driving away.

Police say it happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday as the club on Procter Street was closing.

Officers say witnesses told them the collision may have been done on purpose in response to an altercation that had happened earlier in the evening.

No arrests have been made.

Police say witnesses gave them information on who did it.

The only way this will ever change is when the attitudes of Americans change, to do that you'd need to mount an idea program similar to the 'free market' or 'individual liberty' memes of corporations / businesses, long established American fictions, and certain political think tanks. Too many American associate guns with freedom and safety from [fill in bogeyman here]. Beliefs are not often rational, they simply are accepted and once they attain the power of being common knowledge, argument won't change that. People used to believe in witches now they believe other bunkum. Conspiracy is embedded in our genes through evolution, change comes slowly and when some benefit from myth, the myth has a powerful partner.
