The US economy saw 'essentially no job growth' last month: Moody's

Private data suggests job market declined with growth concentrated in just three states and healthcare sector

A leading economist is warning that job creation in the U.S. economy is slowing to a crawl as the ongoing government shutdown precluded the release of the September jobs report last week.

Of note, the job growth last month was almost exclusively in California, New York, and Massachusetts.

Trump will lie and claim it was the best economy in US history. It helps that he's perverted the BLS.

^^ A MAGA moron attempts to derail the thread.
That is all magats will be fed non stop on magat media to ensure they are not paying attention to the declining economy and rising prices that are now on a constant march. Magats will soon be only be able to afford the most basic things like bread and spam and yet as long as magat media keeps screaming 'WHATABOUT PORTLAND', and lying about what is going on there, the magats will not care about their own poor state.

Little really bothers true believers. For example, go back a few years and look at the reaction to inflation under Biden. The left-wing Magat equivalents spent their time brushing it off or trying to deflect all blame from him. The true Trump supporters will do the same.

But not everyone who votes for someone is ride or die. It won’t be based on one month’s numbers, but over time some people might change their vote or just stay home.

There is a reason 47% of Trump supporters continue to ride or die with Trump.....The one steady flow of income is socialism, ie Social Security and Disability payments. That's why Red states stay solid, such as Kentucky, Florida and Texas...cause the majority of these rednecks got no real skin in the game, other than their prized white skin....you let Trump come for SS or SSD and watch how much love that man gets from his base. MAGA would cease to exist overnight that is a fact!!1759856693391.png

The main causes of inflation under Biden were post-COVID demand, supply chain problems and the huge supply of money pumped into the economy from the three bailout packages. Guess what? Two of the three and over half of the total dollar amount came under Trump’s watch. So, the entire blame wasn’t on Biden after all. Conversely, the inflationary pressures now seem to be all on Trump’s policies.

There’s a difference between Biden supporters and Trump cultists, as well. Biden supporters obviously stayed home. Trump cultists never will.

I think though that you may be fooled on the 'Inflation issue under Biden'.

There simply is no doubt that inflation was world wide and a hang over from covid. There is also no doubt that America under Biden handled it better than all other countries and was the envy of the world.

Biden and his admin defied a loud cohort of the worlds top economists who felt needed to tip America into recession so that America could suffer some quick deep pain and then start recovering and instead they managed the soft landing so many believed they could not.

Nothing i saw above is opinion and is all verifiable data and yet a lot of people, as you seem to, seem to think Biden could have and should have done better.

I think this is a pretty consistent principle, no matter who’s president, that they get more credit and more blame than they deserve for what happens on their watch. Partisans do everything they can to increase the credit and deflect the blame, but that rule still applies.

Most of a party’s base, people like those who post here, are going to vote every election and vote for their party’s candidate. I’ll even say something nice about UCLA (excuse me while I gag at the thought) if any liberal on this board says they didn’t vote for Harris.

There are plenty of people in this country who don’t live and breathe politics and aren’t tied to either party. Those folks will cross over or stay home. That’s the opposite of most people who post here.

You’re doing the exact same thing any die hard Trump supporter would do, saying “it’s not my guy’s fault.” You’re free to do that, but not everyone is ride or die and will do that.

What you say is basically true in a normal economy with a normal POTUS.

That is not true during massive disruption events like when Obama took during the Banking crisis, as the decisions made there could easily swing the economy from bad to much worse or recovery. Even though i did not agree with Obama's major choice to bail out the big banks instead of bailing out the home owners with mortgage credits which then would have created the same needed liquidity in the economy but in the mid sized banks, we can still see Obama's choices did help the economy recovery well.

That also was not true during Covid, where we could see clear data that under Trump, and the US gov't choices both the health outcomes and economy of the US performed at the lowest levels world wide, alongside 3rd world countries and not many 1st world peers.

And it was not true of Biden, and you can see my prior point on that.

No i am not.

What you are saying is 'data does not matter if you are not going to blame your guy'.

There are truths in data and you do not have to 'blame all equally regardless of what the data says'.

Your post makes no room for data or fact and your position is basically 'blame all basically equally or you are wrong' and that is too simplistic and incorrect.

This is a foretaste of things to come.

I’m sick and fucking tired of the feckless Democrats. I did vote for Harris. That’s because she is not an enemy of the republic, has a respect for our institutions and was not going to alienate our allies, our generals or go on any revenge tour.

Biden pulled a ‘Ruth Bader’ and fucked his party and this country by stepping aside at least two years earlier. I only thought of him as a place holder president anyway , one term, but power does whacky things to people.

To be clear, I’m not saying there aren’t times when presidents deserve more credit or blame. But in general, I think that principle still holds.

When it comes to economic activity, the Fed and monetary policy usually have more influence than anything a president does. Many people though have no idea who the Fed is or what it actually does. And since we don’t vote on Fed governors or the chair, people end up crediting or blaming the president for what happens on their watch.

You’re also right that leadership itself plays a big role in how people view a president, especially in moments of crisis.
