There are only about 2 people on the left (most issues) on this board that I try not to engage because it raises my blood pressure. You have now met one of them. Now, on the right (again, most issues), there are 4 or 5.

Eh....hell, it's a message board...what do you expect? I am a Mod at a Steelers message board that shall remain nameless...a good one too...and even though 98% of us( a figure that I just made up...but probably pretty accurate) are die hard Steelers fans...you ought to see the shit that gets said...between people that have a COMMON BOND....the War and Politics forum gets real nasty....but because cussing is not allowed on that board(except in the Smack 101 forum), it's not nearly as raw as here or on USMB(my other political addiction board).
The W&P forum actually was what got me interested in politics. I just happened to finds USMB before this one....I like this one better because the members are a lot more balanced between right and left. USMB is quite skewed to the right.

I've known a lot of these people longer than I've known my wife. Back in the Clinton days when there was another site with a different name.... I've tried to stay away on occasion but this is the only place where I don't mind talking freely about politics. There are righties and lefties but Darla put it best in describing someone earlier....many here fit the mold of being right on some issues and left on some issues, hence the balance...

Oh...I still haunt the place...I go by the same name over there...and at the Steelers site....I wish the Steelers site would add tapatalk compatibility though...I hate pinching and stretching the screen for every single page I.look at.
Truthfully? They should take my Mod status away from me. I hardly get on it anymore because that....and frankly, I'm more interested in politics nowadays than I am Pro Football...at least discussion wise. I've eblven.approach he'd them about taking me off the Moderator list, because I feel like I am barely helping them...but they refuse to...which works out....because I get free access to their.premium content. That is manned by Pittsburgh journalists and former players....I still feel crappy about not contributing as.much as I should....but hey...it's not like I didn't ask them.

I'm OK...I try to be as level headed as I can be. There are a much stricter set of rules there...so.it's always a balancing act....not to.mention that they are affiliated with a major network that I fucking DESPISE as a NEWS source...hint hint...so they have their set of rules too. Truthfuy? It's a PITA.

That kind of describes me to a tee. On most issues I'm pretty much a leftie. On gun control? I am stuck in the middle...I have.no problem with legislation that is simply an inconvenience(like Toomey/Manchin), but I am against banning firearms(and only real extremists are even proposing that nationwide). Religion? I am very much a Christian, but I know that my faith and public policy are two different things....so I take a "live and let live" stance in the Personal sin category. I don't condone abortion and I don't get homosexuality...but, IMO....that's up to them and God. As long as we're free to choose the way God intended(free will)...I see no reason to take a stand against it....but I've been called a baby killer and part of the homosexual agenda(whatever that is) because.of.my non-interventionist stance...whatever....my conscience is clean.on that.....I have enough of my own sins to worry about.
I wish it were the way more people lived.

Yep...I see no need to demonize another person for a personal sin...but when those sins become systematic....like corporate greed, the buying of political candidates, etc....that's when I feel.I.need.to.speak out against it.

The climate may be changing, and we may be raising CO2, but there is no real world evidence that us doing the latter is what is causing the former, or that even wiping the human race off the planet would have the slightest effect on its temperature.

Well...how about the fact that Fossil fuels are getting more and more expensive and harder and harder to extract? It's a dwindling supply and how far are we willing to damage the environment to keep a limited resource flowing? Add to the cost of what we pay at the pump all the hidden costs....trying to keep peace and stabilize the Middle East, Health issues due to air pollution in our cities and other subsidations like oil subsidies and even farm subsidies(ethanol)...all through our tax dollars....economists estimate that we are actually paying close to $14/gallon when you include all those hidden charges. Perhaps if the government would.surcharge us for all of that at the pump, we'd see how ridiculous this shit is.
