The undercurrent matters...

I never thought the GOP dead, never. I agree many other liberals did.

SO, Im not clear based on what you typed...

Do you belvie there is an undercurrent in the campaign to unseat President Obama?

sorry, i thought you said they were dead....

of course there is an uncurrent to unseat obama...don't be silly...there is an uncurrent every election from the other party...just like there was the entire 8 years of bush and clinton

1) I stated that the MORONS on the left were the ones doing so.... funny that you should take that to mean YOU. (unless 'Jarod' is a troll of yours... which actually would make sense)

2) Again, I think the whole 'they are painting him as UnAmerican' is just bullshit from the left. They think if they say stupid shit like that over and over again that their lemming followers will buy into it and start parroting it themselves.

Regarding your first point, I wasn't saying that YOU were saying that about me. I just included my 1st line as a preface to my thoughts about Obama being portrayed as unAmerican - as in, I'm not a knee-jerk racism guy, but there isn't much doubt that it applies here.

Regarding your 2nd point, it's incredibly idiotic & naive to say that Obama hasn't been portrayed as unAmerican. Is your head completely buried in the sand or something? Seriously - that's an insane, completely unobservant thing to say...

So what was Huckleberry doing?

LMAO.... ok... so you injected your self defense when it wasn't necessary. Thanks for explaining that.

There are certain elements on the right/left; black/white/hispanic/asian etc... men/women; straight/gay/bi who are bigoted/sexist/racists. So yes, there will be the nutjob out there from time to time that spouts off their crap. But in no way is their an undercurrent of racism against Obama. That is simply the bullshit from the left I was referring to. Every criticism gets labeled 'racist' or some idiot 'implies' it.

Show me some examples of mass movements to show Obama is 'UnAmerican'... The birthers are the only ones that are even close and they just want to see his friggin birth certificate. He could have resolved that issue years ago, but HE loves letting the absurdity continue.

Okay so we are making some progress... WHat is the subject of the current undercurrent against President Obama?

1) That he is the most fiscally irresponsible President this country has ever seen

2) That his Obama care is a complete monstrosity that is not only does NOTHING to address the rising costs of health care, but will also escalate the rise. Thus his solution creates a greater problem.

3) That he is firmly in bed with Wall Street and the unions.... which is why we see him bail out unions buddies while also not coming down hard on his Wall Street friends. (granted, this can be shared with Congress)

4) That Obama lacks the qualities to lead this country. He has no vision. He sits back in every situation and sits on the fence.

5) He is every bit as horrid a President as Bush (despite the fact that he is far more intelligent)

Thats not the undercurrent, thats the overt allegations.

Well, for starters, the birther movement is a pretty big deal; yes, they want to see his cert, but this thread is about "undercurrent," and I think we can agree on what the undercurrent is there.

For me, it started w/ the campaign, and the constant repetition of Barack HUSSEIN Obama by more than a few on the right. Without a doubt, the flap surrounding Rev. Wright had an undercurrent of him being unAmerican; I don't think Obama did himself any favors by attending that church, but the reaction was definitely focused on being unAmerican. There were lots of little things, like his fondness for arugula, which stood in stark contrast to something like Bush I's convenient love of pork rinds in his 1st campaign.

Beyond all of that, the constant inferences about Islam, including ideas that he is cozying up to organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood, are efforts to portray him as unAmerican...

link to whatever you are referring to.

His comments about Obama growing up in Africa, sympathizing with the Maw Maw Revolution, not being in the boyscouts or playing baseball. You dont need a link its everywhere and noone is denying he said it.

You are confusing overt up front allegations with "undercurrent"!

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a post from me on this board where I'm yelling "racism" regarding anything Obama-related, but do you really think it's just coincidence that in a country where the Senate is all white, and where we have had white male Presidents for over 2 centuries, that one of the strategies used against the 1st black Prez is painting him as "unamerican"?

Well considering that the strategy against the 1st President was to paint him as a pawn of the "unamerican Sec. of Treasury" and the strategy against the 2nd President was to call him "unamerican," I'd say its no surprise that 42 presidents later and the current one is facing the same paintbrush...

:palm:

i'll just say what jarod is looking for so we don't have to drag this thread out

THE UNDERCURRENT IS THAT THE GOP HATES THAT A BLACK MAN IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE. KKK FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not believe that is the undercurrent, if you read my thread you will see that I specifically said so.

Yeah we can. The undercurrent is the President of the United States is jerking people around for no reason.

For me, it started w/ the campaign, and the constant repetition of Barack HUSSEIN Obama by more than a few on the right.

I will give you that one to a degree.... though I think it more to do with 'he is a muslim/not a christian' than 'he is unAmerican'

Without a doubt, the flap surrounding Rev. Wright had an undercurrent of him being unAmerican;

Ok.... true... and much of what was quoted from Wright WAS unAmerican. (in what he said, not his freedom to say it)

I don't think Obama did himself any favors by attending that church, but the reaction was definitely focused on being unAmerican.

Ok.... but when is the last time this was anything close to being mainstream? Or are you just spouting off what USED to happen?

There were lots of little things, like his fondness for arugula, which stood in stark contrast to something like Bush I's convenient love of pork rinds in his 1st campaign.

That was more 'he is an elitist' rather than 'he is UnAmerican'

Beyond all of that, the constant inferences about Islam, including ideas that he is cozying up to organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood, are efforts to portray him as unAmerican...

To a degree maybe. But it is only by the extreme fringe. This is not some mainline strategy that is being propagated by the Reps.

Unchristian, elitist, they are all the same allegation, he is different than US!

Is this undercurrent something you cons are okay with? Do you dent it's existence?

i don't want to derail your thread, but jarod, spelling does indicate some intelligence. speaking and spelling are two entirely different things. you use the words over and over and if you can't comprehend how to spell them...well then....

and therefore, it is irony...if you're going to bag on someone's intellect, better spell it right

So the guy who started off the first sentence of his reply with a lower case "i" is going to lecture others on intelligence?

What does it say about someone who doesn't even know when to CAPITALIZE?

...Probably that he shouldn't be hectoring others about their intelligence.
