Anatta, we're allowed to investigate Russia's involvement in the election. Even if Trump wasn't involved at all, this is still something that they should look into. I don't see how any reasonable American could disagree w/ that.

What you're suggesting is some sort of "sssssshhhh...it's Russia! We should let them do what they want,
lest we start Cold War II!"

It's mind-boggling to me.

i don't have a problem with an investigation, I do have problems with the
Congressional investigations (politicized), and even more problems with leaks, and the Deep State hysteria.

Taken in aggregate they have brought US/Russian relations to an all time low since the USSR.
Both Putin and Trump say this, and i think you would agree that is manifest.

so the political consequences is yet more Cold War 2.0 spending, which is wasteful

agreed it's too much slanted to supply side,and eliminating the "death tax" is a bad idea.

So Congress both (Dems and Republicans) should work on better targeted tax cuts/simplification/ and deregulation.
None of which will happen because of "the resistance" and cowardly Republicans.

Regarding defense. 25% of the budget is for salary. Another 25% is for healthcare for the troops and veterans.

If people want a comparable budget between the US and China or Russia then give the American troop the same salary and healthcare as his chinese counterpart. Except you cant because then he would mutiny.

We get a lot less for our money than other countries and thats ok because the troops spend their money at home. It just means the two figures cant be compared.

there is also foreign bases, and NATO commitments, which are growing exponentially
( European Reassurance Initiative etc.),and will grow more as we have more permanent deployments overseas.

its similar to the argument for the budget and entitlements. Most of the budget is coming from stuff other than what you cut. If you want to keep paying troops the same rate then you will have to accept the US will spend the most for its military worldwide.

it actually did. When we did the reagan and bush tax cuts it unleashed a wave of investments. It just so happened that those investments were done in china, india, and other countries in Asia. THe trick is making investments in the US as attractive. Like making it a condition of the tax cuts or not requiring companies in the US pay close to 40% in US taxes.

Trump's tax cuts are by far geared toward the wealthiest in America.

I was actually shocked to see that. They hardly talk about it anymore, but years ago he was talking about the ultra rich paying more taxes to try to bring the debt down. He has completely reversed course on that. Once would almost think he was trying to reward wealthy donors & supporters...something he said he'd be the one candidate that didn't have to do that.

if you cap deductions and tax capital gains the same as incme the rich are actually paying more.

The tax cuts helped poorer nations prosper and build up their middle classes. You, as a liberal are against that? You are a nationalist? Did you actually vote for Trump?
