The Syrian war just taught Putin to worry about Iran

simpleminded claptrap. first it was wars, now it's isolationism.. make up your mind..

In some ways I understand with the warping out by the neocons in the ME; but the world goes on
and we are engaged, like it or not,,

which does not mean warmongering/interventionism like Clinton's desires

We have no business in the ME.

How on earth do you justify that comment?
annata voted for Bernie.

I respect anatta. Don't get mad at others playing Desh's game. You're smarter than 99.7% of us yet you sit here supporting Desh and hating on anatta. When do we get to see the real genius?

Explain how Bernie voters hate America

You want to know what is going on, read my blogs or ask specific questions.
I will be glad to help any open minded readers.

anyways...what the op is saying is Iran is not just a regional power, but an expansive regional power-
close to super-power status, at least in the region ..And it's going to be a problem .. Not just for nuclear containment..

In fact Iran doesn't even NEED nukes..it would be foolish to arm up, as everything is going it's way.

so all the focus on nukes, while Iran runs conventional land/proxy/ grabs is misplaced angst.

Thank you again Capt. Obvious.
Anything else you think your nursery school class has forgotten?

well it's been common idea that Russia and Iran can easily allie
If this is correct, that is not so. not in a globalist manner at least. more like when their interest overlap.

Which I found a bit enlightening..

I imagine so.....

For me, Putin is playing an excellent hand.
Inside just five months the entire world knows that Russia has identified the mainstays of ISIS- our ' allies ' the Turks- and has dislodged ISIS and other anti-Assad militias which ' we ' support thus opening the way for Syria's LEGAL representatives to mop up. Of course, they will still have the benefit of Russia's intelligence network and highly efficient air force.
Putin has also left the West in a fine old mess. It cannot continue to arm the militias it supports and it cannot continue to allow the Turks to support ISIS without the entire world knowing about it. In effect Putin has created the conditions for the re-establishment of the legal Syrian state and is sitting in the wings watching in case any illegal protagonists ( that's ' us ' ) attempt to reignite the conflict.
Putin has also secured Russia's warm-water port at Tarsus and won the confidence of the Lebanese and the Iranians- future allies in the prevention of any Israeli efforts to make war with Iran.
Not a bad five months work, really.
We'd better get close to him- because he will make fools of Trump, Billary, Cameron, Allende and Merkel and their efforts to sustain the unsustainable ethnic-cleansing and warmongering doctrine of neoZionism. That's my take- and there is no sensible reason at all why the West cannot be partners with the Russian Federation.
Well, maybe that obvious mill-stone around the neck of the USA might prevent it.

well thought out.
as to "getting close" to Putin -Putin has to drop the territorial ambitions, and threats of EU gas embargo.

But there is no reason there cannot be some sort of detante' like during the USSR.
For sure Russia has strategic interests, just like the west/US - and all are legitimate superpowers concerns.
Syria being a legitimate concern for Tartus, and that new air base if nothing else.

And I also agree Putin has played Obama almost out of the picture to irrelevancy in the ME..

I do have some disagreement about Assad being legitimate - I think the war has scrambled any such claims;
and assad has been atrocious with his air force -add Russia to that where it became Asssd's air force.

I don't share the menace of "neo-Zionism" I recognize it exists, but not as an expeditionary force.
At this point I am much more concerned with an unchecked Iran.

Turkey is going to continue to ride the tiger - surpressing the Kurds. Erdogan is not even rational on this.
If anyone deserves a state out of this mess, it's the Kurds.

All in all it has been a good 5 months for Putin -agreed.

None of Iran's missiles can reach the US.
Stay out of the ME and you will be safe.

right. Iran would never attack the 6th fleet . Russian expansionism is Putin's concern -perhaps you should consider the US interests

basic idea again...either help shape events or be captured by them..US has been a + for world stability.

What happened was the neocons took over, and were not happy with shaping events -they wanted to force events to fit their ideology.

US power Projection is not the same as US exporting wars/interventionism.
Russia can do the same - it's meddling in eastern Ukraine has caused needless upheavels
