Trump pressed, threatened Pence to overturn election

WASHINGTON, June 16 (Reuters) - Former President Donald Trump pressured his vice president, Mike Pence, to overturn his 2020 election defeat despite being told repeatedly it was illegal to do so, aides to Pence told the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.

Members of the Democratic-led House of Representatives select committee said Trump continued his pressure campaign even though he knew a violent mob of his supporters was threatening the Capitol as Pence and lawmakers met to formally certify President Joe Biden's victory in the November 2020 election.

Of course it was planned. There were congressmen helping the Proud Boys case the Capitol the day before. There are a lot of assholes involved.
 
Trump a ‘clear and present danger to US democracy’, conservative judge warns

In a chilling warning, a conservative judge closed the the third January 6 committee hearing on Thursday by saying Donald Trump, his allies and supporters were still “a clear and present danger to American democracy”.

J Michael Luttig testified that the former US president and his Republican supporters are preparing in open sight an “attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way that they attempted to overturn the 2020 election, but [to] succeed”.

The retired federal judge, a Ronald Reagan appointee, testified in his capacity as an adviser to Mike Pence, who was vice-president to Trump between 2017 and 2021.

Nothing illegal. Trump, as a citizen and voter, is entitled to seek whatever redress he feels he needs in an election fraught with fraud and inconsistencies. ;)

And I think Trump is a manchild and I would love to see him go to jail for a few months (it would look good on him - probably do him good).

The January 6 riots were just that - riots.
Calling them an 'insurrection' is nonsense.

And again, the fact that the far left is freaking over these riots.
But is not calling any hearings about the far more deadly and destructive BLM riots speaks volumes for their sense of justice and decency.
I.E. - if the left causes trouble...ignore it.
If the right does - destroy them!!!

But don't get me wrong.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard from a judge. He also admitted that this is about the 2024 elections.

In other words, this is nothing more than a weak, political hit job and smear campaign. Democrats are the existential threat they rail about. :palm:
