You nailed it. The right wing media's lies wouldn't be effective if their minions were able to think for themselves and not blindly believe the lies. The funniest thing was when moron Trump suggested injecting disinfectant to cure COVID, to hear MAGA try to justify what he said. They couldn't just say, "Yeah, what he said was just plain stupid but I still support him". No, they had to say things like "Oh, he was just spitballing ideas" or "That's not what he meant" or "He never actually said to inject disinfectant" or "He was just being sarcastic".
