When you are talking about preventable deaths how is 45,222 and 42915 "about the same?" or better yet, "more?" And given that over 91% of Americans own at least one vehicle, compared to roughly 30% of Americans owning guns, I'd say traffic fatalities are more rationally explained given the pure volume of use

One has to register cars, buy insurance for cars, have the cars inspected, even pass a test to operate a car, all of which usually have to renewed upon occasion and none of which are required of guns
