I just want to say that back in the day the politicians weren't so horrible. They were politicians but the tone wasn't as juvenile as it is today. Honestly, I'm just glad no Senator has mentioned a "Dirty Sanchez" yet.

Let's get rid of the popular vote for these Senate ass-clowns.

The right wants democracy ended.

They [the right] say the exact same thing about us.
They even reinvent the meaning of words to prove it.

To me, the most important thing of all is living really well,
and enjoying one's brief existence in this universe.

[See my signature to see what freedom is.]

If democracy is in fact conducive to living well, we should all be for it.
Is there consensus, however, that such is the case?

Is there consensus on anything?

We're a representative democracy, AND a republic.

It's only recently that righties have argued "we're not a democracy." It's telling. And also pretty ignorant of what our founders wrote & expressed about their vision for America.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Nope. The USA was a republic. Read the Constitution.

Projection. The USA was a republic. Read the Constitution.

So, you do NOT think we're a representative democracy?

And you don't think our founders wrote anything about American being a representative democracy?

Read the Constitution, dumbass.

The USA was a republic, not a democracy.

True, but it included democratic procedures such as popular election of House members and eventually popular election of electors. When state legislatures chose Senators there was a lot of corruption with those positions being bought and sold.
