the power to tax

like I said... quite a lovely home.... nicely landscaped... a skunk- colored pet on the walkway.... and those cute shutters.... I can imagine hansel and gretel wanting to walk right up and taste it. It made quite an impression on me...of COURSE I remembered it.

Yes it is a lovely home. It does put your "Federalist style" flea trap dump to shame

Again, that is a factor as to why you do not care how much in taxes other people pay since it is clear you pay very little

Who cares if it does? Seriously, if the cost of business is punitive the intrinsic value will lose its allure quickly.

Damn, even the Mayor of NYC gets is

Mayor Warns Against Raising Taxes on Rich
By BENJAMIN SARLIN, Special to the Sun * March 14, 2008

Balancing the state's budget on the backs of its richest citizens could make New York City a less desirable place to do business and even lead residents to move away, Mayor Bloomberg cautioned yesterday at a press conference in Queens.

"I think at this point, where we're in competition with other cities around the world for entrepreneurs and the best and the brightest, it's not the time to be raising taxes," he said in response to a question about a proposal by some Democratic Assembly members to raise income taxes by 12% on residents making more than $1 million a year. Supporters of the tax say it would raise $1.5 billion in state revenue a year and help to close a looming budget gap.

In criticizing the tax, the mayor contrasted the proposal with his congestion pricing plan, saying commuters could avoid congestion fees by changing their behavior. "They have an alternative — the alternative is to take mass transit," Mr. Bloomberg said. "If you were to raise taxes on a particular group of people, their alternative is moving out of the city and taking with it all of the revenues that they would generate."

perhaps you are right...and that would make the hansel and gretel shutters even that more appropriate.

and your feral watch cat has skunk-like coloring. I suppose that makes the cat scary in more than one way.
I'm not sure why you wish to denigrate my shutters, but a I am professionally affiliated with contractors and realtors, and their comments on them have been all very positive.

With regards to the cat, there is a reason why I call him the watch cat. He is pure evil.

With regards to your PM offer to beat your sword into a plowshare, the Southern Man never forgives or forgets. :cof1:

Thanks, but he's evil.

Maineman insults my house and cat here in public then tries to suck up to me in PMs. It was pitiful. LOL.

So what you are saying is that not much has changed. It is nice to see Conmanfrommaine is not posting as much as he used to. He jumps in and insults and smears people - but contributes little else

I see he has avoided most of the current threads that are pointing out the massive failures of his party and the Hope and Change Express

Not much. He appears to have a little cycle that he goes through where he becomes increasing angry and insulting, explosive even, then calms down a bit and tries to kiss and be friends. I suppose it must be an odd life living in some dumpy house in central Maine, freezing your balls off in the winter and sweating and scratching them off in the summer, black flies swarming through the rotting screen windows, having to constantly make excuses not only for yourself but for your political party, being a self-proclaimed "yellow dog" and all.

Also, wtrh his bad ticker and high BP -he may need time to calm down

He may also be working out. The massive spare tire he carries around is not helping him either

He'll need to work out with the trashing that I have planned. I've taken the advice of Damo, let me paraphrase: 'the best revenge is to live well'. Let's hope he brings up golf again. :)

I didn't insult your house and I didn't insult your cat.... your house is lovely and I said so here and in PM's.

I am glad that you have picked up golf, it would seem.

Anytime... I'll give you two strokes a side and still kick your ass.... guaranteed.:pke:

Actually I haven't picked up golf so you'll have to be stroking along yourself. I'd like to ask you though, what is your handicap, and that of the best golfer in the US?

I'm not big on these sedate activities. Not up for the challenge I see- to compare your golf handicap with my NASTAR handicap. :)
