The politicization of face masks

Have fun living in your self imposed prison. The rest of us will go on with life. Stay in your basement! It's dangerous out there!

Joke's on you because I don't want to go out into society if your filthy ass is out there spreading disease everywhere because you don't wash your hands.

I'm Gen X...we are the antisocial generation. We can amuse ourselves. We aren't desperate to force human interaction. We are the ones who love working from home, who hate people, who don't want to go out into society to be around a bunch of dumb fucks like you.

So yeah...you can go out all you want, but as long as your ugly mug is out there, spreading a disease around, I'm totally cool staying in my home for another year. I have everything I need here.

But you can't stay locked down because you're so insecure you need human contact.

Trumptards wear masks! Do you think they wearing are them for protection or for playing politics?

Santa Claus was a real person. He was a Cardinal in Turkey, known for his philanthropy towards kids, particularly from poor families. He is also called Saint Nicholas. Easter bunnies are real. They are often given as gifts to children on farms so they can learn to raise a bunny.

LMAO!

Shuttering a business does nothing to stop covid19 from blowing around.

It did in New York.

It's an airborne virus, dope.

Back in January-March 2020, you didn't even believe the virus was real. You called it a hoax.

If it's an airborne virus, then a mask is going to be the best first line of protection.

Covid19 does not kill.

Repeating a mantra here to give yourself comfort as you witness all these loudmouth COVID deniers dying all around you.

What are you talking about?

It's not "faith." Most studies and MOST experts in the field say that they're effective and limit the spread. That's actually science, not faith.

Trumpers don't support masks, distancing, or getting vaccinated - during a pandemic. It's amazing. We've been talking about Iraq - in 20 years, the same conversation will be had about what people supported during COVID. And once again, many on the right will do the ol' "Oh, that was so long ago...." or "we've learned since then!"

Have you bothered to read the OP article? Refute it and get back with me.

I did.

If there are 50 articles with studies showing masks work, and 1 article showing they don't, you'll post the 1 article.

The right has the agenda here - not the left. The right is the side that doesn't care about the science. Many on the right say openly that they don't care about the science.

Bold prediction: this will be just like "61." A year from now, it will be beyond the shadow of a doubt that masks work - other posters here will remind you that you were against masks, and you'll just respond "white flag."

The Trump side has made this entirely political. They oppose science in all areas - masks, vaccinations, distancing, even the idea that COVID is a problem. Republicans get booed these days for daring to suggest that anyone wear a mask, or get the vaccine.

It's become like the environment for the right. It's now perceived as a "lefty" issue, so even common sense measures are vehemently opposed.

There is frustration & anger brewing on the side of those who are more in line w/ basic common sense, and who simply want to see the pandemic end. I don't think Republicans understand what they're creating here. Long-term, their current stance is a complete loser politically.

For you maybe, but for the rest of us they're a sane safety measure that has prevented the spread of COVID, the flu, and other airborne illnesses.

What "evidence" have you shown? Your hurt feelings of not being included aren't evidence of anything other than your poor choices.

Have fun catching the flu this year...maybe this'll be the strain that finally takes you out.

Then you're a fucking idiot who believes in fairy tales over science.

Oh really? Did you witness him walking on water? You didn't? So you're just taking the word of a couple of sheepherders from 2000 years ago. What a fucking moron. Do you also believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?

just know you're anti-science.

if you think co2 is a pollutant, you're a moron.

Give 61 a rest, it became lame six months ago and it only tells me you’re looking for a deflection. Thanks.

The OP article reviewed literature from prior to 2020 and found nothing in support of masks *and some RCT studies* that showed no statistically significant benefit to wearing them.

What happened to the ‘science’ after 2020?

When you have to scour through publications searching for a person who says masks do not work, you are not looking for scientific proof. You are looking for an outlier to back what you want to believe anyway.

Why give it a rest?

It's illustrative in terms of how credible your statements and conclusions are. It's not a deflection. I mean, "61" could not have been more off from what the reality ended up being.

If you were incredibly wrong on that, why should we think you aren't incredibly wrong on this?

It might be worth using that as a learning experience. I.e., maybe it's better to err on the side of caution, absent conclusive information.

That's what every single one of them did about the "hoax".

They said it was a hoax, they downplayed it, they compared it to the flu.

Now, when we throw all that shit back in their faces, they just deny.

They're all little bitches.

Deflection.

U of Waterloo in Canada (immune from DC pollicization) recently published a study show that masks only capture 10% of aerosol borne china cooties. Only N95 respirators were shown to be effective to any serious degree.
Probably why the CDC told us in Dec 2019 and Jan 2020 that masks were not indicated.
But masks were something DC could talk up since they put the Burdon on citizens and off them.
So science had to take a back seat so DC could look like they were doing something when there was nothing they could do (apart from hoping a vax could be developed that worked).
