The phony hand wringing over the FBI investigation

Another thread sourcing this same foxnews story is on the board today, dripping with righteous indignation over the supposed attempt to "overthrow" the 2016 election, to commit, by God, A COUP!! What rubbish.

There was no "coup attempt". There was only an effort by the FBI and others in the government to unravel an American President's ties to Russia, and there were ties, secret ties. One of the most blatant was Trump's hidden plan to build a hotel in Moscow, not a plan from long ago, but a current plan negotiated during the 2016 primary season. Trump was careful to keep it from voters. Still, the deceit was bound to be discovered and when it was, with the primaries all but safely behind him, was his campaign wrecked, as Hillary's surely would have been had voters found out she tried to make a secret deal with Russia for her personal enrichment. Not even scratched. Was Trump perhaps embarrassed? Not in the least. He said of the deal behind his voters backs, "it was cool", and voters shrugged - "if the dude says it was cool, it was cool". There were of course many other contacts and afterwards and ever since the election he has behaved toward Putin, not as the leader of an adversarial nation, but like a puppy wanting to be petted. With Russia's connivance Trump has sidestepped much of the effort to investigate his Russia connections. That may pick up again once he's gone. But it was never "a coup" attempt, or anything close to it. The most that could have happened is that the truth would have come out. Whether or not that truth amounted to treachery, no "coup" would have transpired in his Republican Senate.

A narrative doesn't require facts. Just a story. We need a population that can tell the difference between Robert Ludlum
and John K Galbraith. Trump does not share that concern for obvious reasons.

"Clinesmith is being charged in federal court in Washington and is expected to plead guilty to one count of making a false statement, his attorney Justin Shur told The Associated Press."

Oh well, there ya go. Trump will run with that and say it means the entire Russia investigation was a nothingburger witch hunt.

"Mueller’s investigation yielded no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 election, though the question of whether Trump obstructed justice was left open in the final report."

That's a lie, but what do you expect from Fox?

"Trump has been invested in the outcome of the Durham investigation, saying this week that he hopes Durham is “not going to be politically correct,” ..."

Well there ya have it. He expects Durham to be politically biased.

A good narrative requires a fake Dossier and a compliant media lol.

Trump tried to put one of his hotels in Moscow??

Holy crap!

Better to stop the pretending altogether.

Who’s pretending lol?

Clinesmith is charged with a serious crime that actually pertains to Durham’s mandate. Like I said in another thread ‘the resistance’ will be very lucky if he was acting alone; and if he wasn’t, Durham will likely find who else was involved.

IOW, Clinesmith knows where the bodies are buried.

WE'LL JUST IGNORE THE LYING, FALSIFYING EVIDENCE, ENTRAPMENT ,ETC. PERPATRATED BY THESE "NOBLE AMERICANS" ON THEIR SACRED MISSION...AKA: SEDITION.

A good narrative requires a fake Dossier and a compliant media lol.

Russia interfered in a systematic and widespread manner in order to help Donald Trump win the election. The Trump campaign was very willing to accept that help. No fake dossier needed. You're just mad because your guy got caught. There was proper predicate for investigating the campaign. Trump himself provided that predicate. Stop whining.

You're going to be as disappointed in Durham as some of us were in Mueller.

Moreso. The Mueller report was a scathing 'indictment' of Trump and the Trump campaign. Barr may have attempted to spin it differently, but that is a fact. Mueller was a terrible witness. His report was damning. Durham is going to find nothing.

Mullet seemed barely competent lol.

Weismann ran the investigation. Mullet was a Biden-like figurehead that was there in an attempt to give it some legitimacy. Mullet didn’t even know what was in ‘his’ own damned report. Weismann is a sketchy character that was rightfully condemned in the manner in which he handled the Enron investigation.

Weismann is currently asking that no one cooperate with Durham. Why would he feel compelled to do such a thing if this was a nothing burger. He should be like whatev’s but he’s all over Twitter denouncing Durham’s Investigation.

Btw, I’m not even mildly surprised you think Russia helped Trump steal the election.

Truther.

I read the Mueller report. You obviously didn't. Russia's efforts to help Trump win the election are spelled out in detail. Oh, I forgot, you can't read. Sorry, there is no illustrated version.

Russia helped Trump win the election but not even one[1] Mullet indictment pertained to collusion/conspiracy lol.

Like I said, you’re a truther and there’s no point in debating truthers.

I don’t pretend to know what Durham will ultimately end up with—but I’ll enjoy watching you and some others eat some crow if it’s significant.

Grossly exaggerating it isn't the same as not ignoring it. All the overreaching - "A coup!!", only makes you look silly. If the investigation had turned up enough disloyalty to
persuade sixty-seven senators to kick him out, no one but Trump himself would call it a coup.
