They REFUSED to do anything and we have leftists to thank for it. His death is on their heads.
I would like to hear the explanation for why he was still out and about especially with a warrant... And the very long history...

"That he didn't attack anyone only means he was stopped before he could, given his history of violent crimes."
"Exactly."
Really, TOP?
Is this the level of logic that we're going to accept?
It wouldn't work well on the SAT exams, would it?
Lethal force is justified based on the assumption that the victim was about to commit a crime?
Interesting concept.
You can't imagine the number of people I would have liked to have clocked on the assumption that they were going to annoy me.
My lack of a felony record must mean that I somehow suppressed the urge.
Such wasted frustration, then.
So he deserved to die because, unknown to the other riders, he allegedly "had a history of violent crimes"?
Based on his Marine training, he is correctly charged with manslaughter. A jury of his peers will determine his innocence or guilt. For all you vengeance lust sufferers, let's keep one thing in mind here.... there is no evidence, nor has it been alleged that Penny acted out of malice or with intent to kill.
He was acting in the interest of the safety of everyone else on the train, his own included and Neely's death was unintentional.
If Neely verbally threatened to harm or kill anyone and the threat was credible based on his demeanor and physical ability, Penny's cations could be considered justifiable self defense.
I hope he's acquitted myself.
I also hope he has a ton of money left over from his legal defense fund and gets to keep it.
Indeed... I believe the defense fund is more than 2 million now...For all you vengeance lust sufferers, let's keep one thing in mind here.... there is no evidence, nor has it been alleged that Penny acted out of malice or with intent to kill.

I fully admit to not knowing enough about the specific incident to offer an opinion specifically about said specific incident.
If what I think happened actually happened, then the manslaughter charge would certainly be appropriate.
I'm not sure why it's a national story.
To me, it's a local story that didn't occur in Boston,
so I may not follow it as closely as some others might.

The only "vengeance lust" posters here are the ones defending the accused.
you think because he's a Marine, he shouldn't be given the same leeway for self defense as other civilians or even law enforcement?
what would YOU have done in his place?
As a Marine, he was trained in hand to hand combat including lethal chokeholds to subdue an enemy. As an accused defendant, he has the same right to both self defense and to a fair trial as everyone else. Personally I don't think that he intended to cause the disturbed man's death, but only to subdue him till authorities could take him into custody. As Phan said, let's see what the jury says.
Who, the former Marine? If I had been a male trained in war stuff like he was, I would have helped to try to subdue him too. As myself, I would have used my pepper spray on him.

thank you for at least not criticizing his actions as a vigilante.
Oh stop.
Both sides always go to ridiculous extremes in these kinds of incidents, just to wear their team's uniform.
Not necessary. I believe, at least until further info is in, he meant well but fucked up. He's not a hero nor a villain.
