My friend who is in the Peace Corp once told me many poor people of the world don't realize they are poor.
When we were talking about liberals and conservatives I assumed we were talking about America.

It's might be a bit harder in America due to our media, but I am sure there are many happy poor people, who don't see themselves as poor. There really are people who don't care about money or material possessions. When we were talking about liberals and conservatives I assumed we were talking about America.

I was thinking of my home state, Kansas and Alaska, most people in rural areas don't have a lot of money, they are the working poor and they are happy. Many don't see themselves as poor.Who are these people? Happy smart people living in the projects for instance because they enjoy it?
Not everyone who is poor is unhappy of course but there's a reason most people move out of low income high crime areas when they have the opportunity.

I agree with this, Rana. We have a few families whose wives work as teacher's aides or husbands work as custodians who might make $20,000 in a year. My brother did it for years and raised a family of six kids...none of whom were his. I considered them poor but they were happy and continue to be a close knit family.
I also understand Cawacko thinking about the poor being in the projects or inner cities too. It is something I had to learn about as a young adult. When I thought about "the poor" I thought about folks like my brother and his family. Sometimes it is all in our perspective.
No. I just am smarter, a miracle of birth or whatever. I choose to be liberal because of that.
Again for the slower members; I am a left libertarian
You think you're smarter than what exactly? This should be good
99.7% of the world.
I just don't buy into this liberals are smart and conservatives are dumb sentiments. There is no question that are some very smart liberals. Most of the brightest academics are liberal for instance. But then you have the poorest areas of the country that vote almost exclusively liberal and you're telling me they're smarter than everyone else?
I know what you mean. The fastest way to raise my temper-ature is for someone to think they are smarter than me and then interject that into a conversation just because I am conservative.
On the flip side I get riled when I hear things like "those who can, do and those who can't teach."
I am a person who can get equally angry at either side.![]()
Man, you're the one hitching yourself to Desh's wagon. Why you choose that I have no idea.
Science will say she probably didn't graduate high school and she has mental issues.
