The failing Tea Party was named for a cowardly, sneaking pack of criminals whose motivation was to protect their illicit smuggling operations.
Strange that none of JPPs parrot-like pack of Founding Father worshippers know that.
The “Tea Party” moniker first appeared in 1834, BTW.
Far from being the “courageous” act it has been portrayed as, the actual event was a cowardly act of vandalism and theft carried out by disguised – and possibly drunk – self-serving profiteers who were afraid to commit their crime in daylight without seeking to hide their identities.
Like today’s Tea-rorists, the original gang of tax-avoiding thugs was backed by the colonial oligarchs of the day, who only sought to profit from their fellow Americans.
After the Tea Act of 1773 was passed, the price of legally imported tea was less than the “patriotic” smugglers extortionate prices.
When their attempts to threaten and extort more tax cuts from the authorities failed, the so-called Tea Party thugs behaved just like today’s GOP.
Benjamin Franklin said this pusillanimous act should be paid for and called for compensation for the owners of the stolen cargo.
So, today’s rightwing thugs are aptly named.
