Ask them to compare it to foreign markets in dollar terms. The rest of the world’s stock markets are crushing the US market since the start of 2025.

Dow was under 15% for the year

MSCI was just under 30%

Nekkei over 25%

Kospi a whopping 75%!

So compared to everyone else, especially Asian indexes, we sucked last year.

Someone posted this cartoon yesterday. I think it's on board with what you're talking about here:

Everyone, help me out, did @Crepitus just suggest that I compare any stock market with foreign markets ... in terms of the currency that those foerign markets specifically do not use?

Can anyone tell me why I would ever do such a thing?

Asian markets are doing well overall. How does that detract from the US' markets? Asian markets are usually more volatile, and so when they are in periods of boom, they really boom. Good for them.

Of course, when they drop, they drop hard, and without remorse.

No

The stock market has become a playground for the rich.
... says the incorreigible Marxist.

They can gamble with abandon and the taxpayers will save them.
False. You Marxists have no idea how anything works.

The concentration of wealth in America is hidden from the people.
Wealth concentrations are of no concern ... except to Marxists who have no idea how anything works.

When Trump says the stock market is soaring, he is saying the wealth gap is blowing up. His policies are working as planned.
Yup, he is speaking directly to his oligarch donors and pointing at the success they are having as he shifts wealth from the MC and poor up to the top 1%.

Correct.

As some might recall, the Great Recession ended after 19 months but it took years for the Middle and Lower Income classes to recover...and some still haven't. Trump's tariffs are making it worse.
