The next Olympic controversy - To dip or not to dip

I think Dixie is the personification of the Souths biggest historical contribution. He's a loser, just like the south.

BURN!

Jeez people, lighten up a little on the south, willya? I know Dixie is crass and can be an idiot. But don't make it sound as though he is the personification of everything south of the Mason dixon line.

BBQ? Moonshine? NASCAR? Self Igniting Religious Symbols?

Anywhere that can put on a good barbie gets my vote. I was very tempted a couple of months ago, having been invited to one here, to buy a half goat that was hanging outside one of our covered markets. I had this mental picture of me turning up with a slab of Tsingtao under my arm and half

Yes, we can't all be from the ARM PIT of America! The place that sucks SO bad, it can't even win the award for suckiest, NJ beats them out by a hair. But that's the kind of consummate losers Ohioans are. They can't even win at sucking. It's pathetic, and it causes little fuckwits like Mott to have some kind of inferiority complex, where he has to constantly shell out insults to people he doesn't know, to feel better about himself. I wish Ohio was better, but oh fucking well.

You have a different perspective on what the south is known for my brother.

Somehow you missed the south's biggest "contribution" to history.

Hmm... I mentioned rebellion, that covered the Civil War. I mentioned hospitality, and that covered The Grand Ole Opry, Beale and Burbon Streets.

I give up, what did I not mention, BAC?

Apple pie?
Peanut Butter?
Tuskegee Airmen?
Helen Keller?
Willie Mays?

Oh... that's right, you're going to focus on the negatives, the fire hoses and church bombings, and all of the things that divided us before Dr. King.

Low, despite your dislike of Americans, you really should visit the Memphis in May BBQ Festival. The competition is the best in the world, and the food and music are amazing.

If you do visit Memphis, you cannot leave without seeing the parade at the Peabody Hotel.

You can be such a twit Dixie. We have adopted many traditions from the French, where the hell do you think most of the ideals of the Enlightenment came from that influenced our founding fathers political views?

Oh and Noblesse Oblige means that those who are priveleged and earn public office are obliged to lead and manage responsibly and conduct themselves honorably and not like some backward ideological nitwit.

So go readicus a bookus!

Uh, some of them (Rousseau and Voltaire, to be sure), but they took plenty of inspiration from the English, as well (Locke, and Richard Hooker).
