Only the conservative spin machine could take the loss of yet another house seat and claim it as a victory. Not just any house seat either. A house seat that had been held by the Republican party since the civil war. Whigs have held that seat more recently than Democrats.

The Republican deal with the south was a Faustian bargain. Like most people bargaining with evil creatures, they thought that they could use the evil to spread their conservative ideology. However, the evil ended up taking over and running them.

Well, been there and done that....which leads us up to the mess we are in today.

An across the board draft for all would make Congress and Senate think twice before authorizing a war of "choice" and not necessity.
