The making of western morality

Holland further argues that concepts now usually considered non-religious or universal, such as secularism, liberalism, science, socialism and Marxism, revolution, feminism, and even homosexuality, "are deeply rooted in a Christian seedbed", and that the influence of Christianity on Western civilization has been so complete "that it has come to be hidden from view".
Oh, I see what this leftist Holland is saying. He is saying that the non-Christian, immoral and dehumanizing characteristics of the LEFT's
agenda, ideology, and or beliefs such as secularism, liberalism, socialism, Marxism, feminism and homosexuality are really a huge part
and parcel of Christianity itself. LMFAO!

Yes. Everyone knows you are "TEAM GOLDEN RULE!" And that's cool. Personally that is about the only thing you really need to know in order to be a "moral" person.

And it's a truism that crosses almost all societies
People that support the killing of GOD's unborn are as immoral as it gets.

You're obviously not bright enough to get it.

At least in theory, liberalism, socialism, Marxism are ultimately supposed to be about lifting up the weak and the poor, and laying low the rich and mighty. That is a political perspective that points back to a New Testament legacy.

As for secularists, you can't throw a rock without hitting an atheist who has abandoned institutional Christianity, but yet still clings to the ethos of the gospels.

And that 'THEORY' that you liberals, socialists, and Marxists believe in is just that...a 'THEORY' that hasn't quite worked out for lefties, now has it?

I accept your tacit confession that you sat through that video without really comprehending what he was saying.

Perhaps more education is needed in your future?

I didn't sit through, listen to, or read anything from that video. I'm merely responding to your assertion that it's just a theory that
you leftists, liberals, socialists and Marxists believe in that has failed miserably in helping out the poor
Why only the unborn, Hater? Don't you support killing people you don't like? Especially if they are darker skinned than yourself?
No, I don't support the killing of people I don't like. I resort back to looking at my avatar when dealing with someone
who asks such an asinine question like would I support the killing of a person who has darker skin than myself. My
well tanned brother has darker skin than me, and woops, I don't see me killing him.

Hater, you've repeatedly lied about being a Christian and you've repeatedly lied about not hating people. You continue to spread hate and division against Americans. Why should anyone believe a word you post?

Nothing mysterious here. Why are you making a big deal of it?

1. Because you didn't understand the point (you thought by "wetness" I mean the "feeling" of wetness). So I'm teaching you some science so you will understand the larger point.

2. Wetness cannot be found at the atomic level. It is an EMERGENT PROPERTY of a system.

3. This explains a possible model for consciousness that is based out of a physical system.

Hopefully that was simple enough for your needs.

The Origins of Human Morality (Scientific American)

"The key insight is a recognition that individuals who live in a social group in which everyone depends on everyone else for their survival and well-being operate with a specific kind of logic. In this logic of interdependence, as we may call it, if I depend on you, then it is in my interest to help ensure your well-being. More generally, if we all depend on one another, then we must all take care of one another."

This is the basis I have provided in my debate points. This is the key to understanding morality of humans (and by extension "the West"). The evolutionary origins of the moral impulse and moral codes.

The authors go on to differentiate the modes of foraging of chimpanzees (who cooperate in small search parties for food, but do not cooperate once the food is found, but rather go each for himself). Humans, having a larger brain, and when there was a period of time when early Homo spp were active they were competing with a large number of other primates. An advantage would benefit them. And about 400,000 years ago H. heidelbergensis appears to have started foraging with communal intent. So high levels of cooperation. The social group further self-selected for those individuals that were more capable of "collaborative foraging".

So this is a good start to why morality even exists. These things provide survival advantages and hence are selected for and preserved.

Morality is nothing more than a codification of these in-built drives but added onto by our larger brains.
