Obama: GOP trying to destroy Social Security

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38704709/ns/politics-white_house/as is the case with obama....yet another lie

because the truth is:

Most Republicans, in fact, are wary of touching that idea, because Social Security is virtually sacrosanct to voters, particularly seniors.

and some democrats support the idea, but leave it to the liar in chief to sling mud and really have the "change" and end partisan bickering....

For the record, I support privatizing. But you should know that privatizing is an official part of the Republican platform, and has been for years.

So, the thread title is a bit hyperbolic.

Your silly ass needs to learn to find out what a person actually said before calling him or her a liar:

But some Republican leaders in Congress don’t seem to have learned any lessons from the past few years. They’re pushing to make privatizing Social Security a key part of their legislative agenda if they win a majority in Congress this fall.

It is a 100% true statement, idiot.

I don't know if he's lying as much as he's fear mongering. This is right out of the old school Dem playbook when they showed Bush pushing a senior in a wheelchair off a cliff which his proposed changes to SS.

They sound like Paris Hilton, "Like OMG y'all! They are so totally going to kill SS if we reform it."

i listened to the video and he did say some...i wonder why that is outside of the quotes in the news article...i took that to mean he did not say that

I suppose you'd like to revise & amend your comment about "facts" at this point?

LOL

not with you...you tried to support obama saying the gop wants it, you even tried to bolster it by pointing out the platform...i had to show you the facts that MOST in the gop do not support it

don't worry, i don't expect you to be honest like me and admit you're wrong...i let the news title fool me and since they left the word "some" out of the quotes....but i know this just makes your day, you probably jizzed yourself, too bad for you it was nigel and NOT you though

Holy shit Yurt The Obama is the most partisan president ever during my life. He's the king of partisanship. When have you ever seen any other president blast on the opposing party as a matter of course?

It's not a lie at all. We have the top Republican on the House Budget Committee, Paul Ryan, proposing allowing younger people to put Social Security money into personal accounts and we had the last President, who also happened to be a Republican, proposing privatizing SS.

We're not talking about some back-bencher casually throwing out an idea.

(Excerpt) In late January 2010, Ryan released a new version of his "Roadmap." It would give across the board tax cuts by reducing income tax rates; eliminating income taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest; and abolishing the corporate income tax, the estate tax, and the alternative minimum tax. The plan would privatize a portion of Social Security, eliminate the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored health insurance, end traditional Medicare and most of Medicaid, and terminate the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The plan would replace these health programs with a system of vouchers whose value would decrease over time. (End)

Does anyone believe the Republican Party would put someone in charge of the House Budget Committee if their ideas were not purely Republican? Unfortunately, it's not just SS the Repubs want to destroy as shown in the above statement.

When the economy is limping along and people are losing jobs the Republican solution is to throw those affected citizens under the bus. At the very time the citizens need government help the Republican solution is to throw them to the wolves on Wall Street.

The Republican slogan should be, "When the going gets tough we're out of here!"

Unfortunately many Republicans are against personal accounts so there is no guarantee someone who heads up a committee will be for them.

And please explain explain how empowering individuals with the option of a personal account and strenghtening the system is somehow 'throwing people under the bus'? This I would love to hear. Is this somehow another being unemployed is a good thing?
