Brian Sicknick's mom says her son died of a fatal stroke.

Gladys Sicknick, 74, was unequivocal in her assertion that Officer Brian Sicknick was not struck on the head and that as far as the family knows her son had a fatal stroke.

“Facts are stubborn things,” John Adams famously said as the lawyer defending the British soldiers involved in the 1770 Boston Massacre, “and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

More than 250 years later, reconstructing events outside the U.S. Capitol, members of the chattering class tried to alter the state of facts and evidence they didn’t like.

The prevailing narrative was that the violence was the spontaneous action of hordes of Trump supporters incited into insurrection by the then-president’s speech.

That narrative collapsed weeks later.

Federal prosecutors issued indictments alleging that the Capitol raid was, indeed, planned in advance.

FBI investigators agreed.

The thread is simply not true. Rightys read right-wing crap sites and start a thread. The problem is their lack of interest in checking first. They are a pipeline for Infowars, Parler and other anti-fact sites. They do not know how irresponsible and weak that is.

Is that so?

Prove it.

Of course, I'll understand if you cannot.

In a statement Wednesday, Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller did not mention working with Drumpf. He said he "spoke separately with the Vice President [Mike Pence] and with Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Senator Schumer and Representative Hoyer about the situation at the U.S. Capitol."

So he says.

Trump confirms he requested 10,000 National Guard troops on Jan 6. Capitol officials under Pelosi refused.

Pelosi does not have any right to refuse the President calling up National Guard troops. In DC trump is not just Commander-In-Chief of the National Guard when federalized, he is also Commander-In-Chief of them when not federalized. He is in effect the governor of DC.

Pelosi could not have even banned these imaginary guardsmen from the Capitol Building, because McConnell had senior security rights. Pelosi may have been able to ban guardsmen from the House chamber... But they were not even called up, much less in the Capitol Building, so what is the point of debating what she could have done.
