No, it really shouldn't. Life is not easy. It is quite hard. Omar has just become so used to other people doing the hard work, that he thinks everything is easy.

It took a lot of hard work to eliminate Smallpox, and nearly eliminate Polio, but Omar just reaped the rewards from that, so he does not realize the hard work involved.

But shouldn't it be as easy as turning on a light?

Turning on a light is only easy, because of a lot of people work hard to make sure you have electricity. Those people use hard won knowledge to get that electricity to you. The reason cavemen did not have lightbulbs is because they had not put in that hard work.

Rome lost 99.9+% of its population because they stopped putting in the hard work to keep their drainage working. It literally reverted to a malaria filled swamp, because of laziness.

Now the Alt Right calls for the destruction of NYC, where nearly all our finance is handled, because they think it will be easily replaced.

Again with it "should be easy." Apparently all you need to run a complex financial system is "the internet and a telephone exchange." There are an awful lot of highly paid people involved with running the system. If they could be replaced, they would be replaced to save money.

Or put another way, why not start by replacing NYC, and then destroy it? Wouldn't that be the sane way to do things?

If we are going to be teleconferencing from here on out, America has already ended. It might take a decade for it to completely happen, but the pattern has already been set.

There is no new training going on. There is no new connections being made. We are holding out, but we cannot hold out forever.

NYC had record low crime, and was doing great. It was still connected to the gun culture of the red states, but it was doing its best to correct that.

Btw my father was a farmer. He worked from sunup to sundown every day. He improved our lives by becoming a Teamster who worked in a warehouse.
