The jury finds her quilty

Are we actually buying into believing that the firearm was a taser?

Once Mike Piazza's bat split in half after he hit a pitch from Roger Clemens.
Clemens picked up the bat fragment and flung it directly at Piazza,
then claiming he thought it was the ball and he was trying to throw it to the first basemen.

Some people belived that as well.

I don't really think that applies in the Martin - Zimmerman incident.

That was pretty much a unique set of circumstances that came together in a sort of "perfect storm" for which there is no reason to rehash.

Wasn't it a "perfect storm" that George Floyd ran into Derek Chauvin that day? Duante Wright gets stopped by Kim Potter and a trainee?

Do you think Potter intended to harm Wright? Do you fault her training? Question the little city of Brooklyn Center's annual training for their 26 officer police force?

She and a trainee officer said they pulled Wright over because he had a blinker on in the wrong turn lane, expired tags and an air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror. They attempted to detain him after discovering a warrant for his arrest and an order of protection against him.

I don't think the other incidents you brought up are in the same category, as they involved police officers who were performing their normal duties of responding to calls for police assistance or making traffic stops, as opposed to Zimmerman who was just a well intentioned guy who, in the capacity of appointed neighborhood watch captain took his responsibility seriously, and by a simple twist of fate, just happened to encounter Martin out walking on a cold, wet Sunday evening after dark when everyone else was inside having dinner in a neighborhood which had been plagued by a recent rash of property crimes that were being committed by young black males from a nearby predominantly black neighborhood.

That is truly a confluence of factors that together, formed the perfect storm which resulted in the confrontation that resulted in Zimmerman shooting Martin.

The others were pretty typical of situations that the police find themselves in every day.

Two idiots running into each other at night is actually a lot more common than you think. The fact this one became noticed is just an example of something beating the odds.

Also, consider the irony that Trayvon Martin, Nicholas Sandmann and Kyle Rittenhouse were all 17 at the times of their life altering incidents.

The fact they made it to the news beats the odds since so many thousands of Americans die every day with, on average, about 130 dying in car accidents, about 90 suicides (probably higher with COVID) and about 50 murders....every day.

330,000,000 stories produces a lot of stories to choose from. I like my story. YMMV. LOL

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree on the nature of the Zimmerman - Martin saga.

Because I disagree with your take on it.

We both agreed they were idiots. The disagreement is the relation between both the Zimmerman and Potter cases and the politics involved against a backdrop of current Americana.

IMO, political forces on both sides focus too much on race and not enough on justice for all...which the racists claim they are defending but only worsen.

Wow your stupid

There's a clear line between ignorant and stupid. TBH, I don't know Lionfish's age but I suspect he's under 35. If so, it could be either or stupidity. If over 40 then it's leaning toward stupidity with more stupidity being added for every year thereafter.

If I knew more about him, I could make a better assessment, but you and I both know these Qless idiots are afraid of their own shadow and won't say anything about their personal lives out of fear. It's common to their demographic of single Euro-American male incels, no college degree, lower middle-class income and no expectation of change for the better, only for the worse.

INCOME GROUP INCOME
  • Poor or near-poor $32,048 or less
  • Lower-middle class $32,048 - $53,413
  • Middle class $53,413 - $106,827
  • Upper-middle class $106,827 - $373,894
  • Rich $373,894 and up

I don't think Zimmerman was an idiot.

I think he was a decent, well intentioned guy who got too caught up in what he was trying to do when he should have just held back and waited for the cops to arrive, although he likely knew that would not have happened until well after the guy (Martin) who he suspected of being up to no good was long gone, possibly (he thought) with someone's property.

Obviously, had he known Martin was there visiting his father, things would not have turned out the way they did.

Wow your stupid

Agreed.

Total and intentional conflation of two completely different incidents.

And in the Baldwin case, the facts are not yet even known.

In the Potter case, there was body cam video showing exactly what happened.

Lyin'fish is an utter and complete idiot POS.

Technically true, but Zimmerman was too stupid to be a cop, which averages 104 IQ IIRC. He was a wannabe cop and his participation in Nightwatch was part of fulfilling that dream. Worse, he violated Nightwatch rules which indicates a lack of ethics....which could have saved him from severe head trauma. Still...a violation of the rules.

Who wants another rogue cop except on television?

Martin wasn't an idiot. He went for a walk and got attacked by a trigger happy racist with a huge ego and an inverted dick.

I live a half hour drive from where it happened.

I have driven past the complex before any of that.

The news coverage here was non-stop.

I don't think you have any more of a realistic view of Zimmerman than the butthurt SJW's whose knee jerk reactions got splashed all over the media like a National Enquirer headline.

You really need to read the article I'm linking below.

It is from Reuter's News Service, one of the oldest and most respected wire services in the world.

It is also one of, if not THE most balanced and non-hyperbolic articles I ever saw on the subject.

Seriously.... read this:

You don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about.

Read the article I posted a link to in my above response.

I know you won't believe it because of your own ignorant prejudice.

But reading might still open your eyes a little and it certainty could not hurt.

The fact you think living near the apartments gives you an argument of authority is interesting.

I read the article. What in it do you see that conflicts with my opinions?

The fact you think living near the apartments gives you an argument of authority is interesting.

I did not claim or imply that.

But it was more of a local issue here, so we got even more coverage of it than the rest of the world.

Also, I am very familiar with the town of Sanford and I am also very familiar with its long standing reputation as being plagued by crime, much of it perpetrated by blacks.

It is what it is.

I just have a different and more complete perspective on it than you do.

I read the article. What in it do you see that conflicts with my opinions?

If you had really read it, you wouldn't need to ask that.

Do you think cops should "walk from things like this"? I don't. With great power comes great responsibility.

That said, there's a big difference between making a fatal mistake as Potter did and intentionally shooting an innocent man like Jeronimo Yanez did.
I don't think anyone should walk, but this case is rough. She's already unemployed, and unemployable. Normally, the rogue cops find work a few towns over and end up murdering a Tamir Rice.

I think better than prison, she should spend her life making restitution to the family of the victim.

You can keep your baseless assumptions and accusations to yourself.

With few exceptions, I read all reputable sources that are provided to me. I read the Reuters article. Is your point that the sequence of neighborhood events justifies Zimmerman's decision, against the advice of the police dispatcher? Zimmerman expressed his frustration over the phone, confronted a stranger who had done nothing wrong, and then murdered Martin when he resisted Zimmerman's nonexistent authority.

The city plays a big part in this.

Not a lawyer, but it seems that the family needs the conviction of Potter in order to go after the city for training and qualifying her.
