The Hospital shooting gives us three AR style weapons in a row massacring Americans,

Hello archives,

and this guy, like the others, bought his AR legally

America has experienced 20 mass shootings in a week, 12 the last weekend alone, 27 school shootings since January, 213 mass shootings already in 2022, and the right keeps telling us more guns is the answer

We are not free when our kids can’t go to school, or anyone attend a movie, a concert, visit the supermarket, a club, a spa, attend church, or go to a Mall while living in fear of our lives

Our freedom is being taken by people who think they are supporting freedom.

Hello Lurch,

Good morning, hooter gal! I came up with a proposal:

What if we leave whatever guns are in circulation, offer to buy back as many as we can, voluntarily. <--- that would be step 1.

Step 2. The money. Outlaw campaign contributions from any gun manufacturer or lobbyist and make it illegal to advertise arms or ammo anywhere.

Step 3. No guns or ammo until 21.

So: If there's no money for politicians to worry about from the NRA or whoever.. then politicians can't be held hostage by the lobby. Secondly, there will be fewer guns in circulation.. you can keep yours, but now kids won't be tempted by those ads of sexy women hoisting big guns and stuff.

We can't outlaw dark money from gun profiteers unless we can overturn Citizens United. Somehow money and speech are perversely the same thing according to the SCOTUS.

You are responsible for your own self defense. Just assume that and you'll be where you need to be.

When you only have seconds, the police are just minutes away.

We were talking about this the other day.

Say somebody breaks in trying to rob you or rape your girl or whatever and you kill them.

You're going to get arrested and they're going to take your stuff as evidence.

You'll be exonerated, but then you'll have to ransom all your stuff back from the police. My buddy has like ..15 shotguns.

If that happened, the police would take them all; Not just the weapon used in the incident.

All the shotguns, any computer stuff, they take all that.

And then you have to ransom it back from them, and they don't make it easy.

Same thing if you get your car stolen.

One might start thinking it's better to not involve the police at all and dispose of the body to save the hassle. There's a lotta ways to do that in FL.

Pigs, gators, sharks. Even them "turkeys"! I've seen them clean up a 110-lb dog in 2 days, nothing left.

Around here you may get guns back someday but they never return your ammo.

I can agree with your commie dumbass on overturning Citizens United. Legalized bribery. No.

Do you see your life ending in a hail of police gunfire with you barricaded in a roomful of your hostages?

Or do you see it staring down the barrel of your 9mm?...given you are allowed to own a firearm.

Classic false dichotomy fallacy.

Ooo, this is good, will bookmark this one..

Leave it to the pinhead of pinheads to post such asinine shit.

There's other options, fucktardo Dutch.

If I had to bet, it is going to be a bad Summer; come Fall, the killing will get back to normal (several times higher than anywhere else in the first world).

I think there are some good republicans here some of them I've seen here. They really want to feel that it's anything else other than the guns. Unlocked doors mental Illness. You name it anything but the real problem.

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

Good ideas. I would also mandate a mandatory waiting period of at least five days, and establish a background check agency that will look at not just criminal and court records but also social media accounts and personal references. Employers do that all the time.

Make the waiting period five hundred years.

I hadn't seen this comment by you before I responded to your other one.

Of course this will only work if we have universal health care and even then you will get those that refuse to see a doctor because they don't want the doctor injecting them with some kind of spying/tracking device. So we are back to, if you refuse to get a mental health exam then you can't own a gun.

No worries.

Disagreed on "only work", but agreed that it would "work better with".

Which is easier to catch and treat, in your opinion: a paranoid and delusional school child or a paranoid and delusional adult.

Such is plan isn't a politically popular quick fix. It's long term. About 18 years worth of long term.

More like a 40-60 year fix. The current Congress and Supreme Court won't go along with it. It could be 40 years before the court changes from its current makeup. Then you have to get Congress to act or get enough states to amend the Constitution. It could require the sacrifice of a lot of 6-12 year olds before we get to that point.

Yet you honestly believe banning guns will work? Why waste the effort? At least with better health care there's a plan in motion. Not a continual deadlock.

Fine, give up. There's nothing to be done. Who do you think will win the World Series?

No. I am saying the current court and the current Republicans in Congress are against any attempt to restrict who can own or carry guns. That means they would oppose requiring mental health checks which might identify those that don't live in reality. Half the people posting here could be classified as not living in reality and then the only question is whether they are a danger to themselves or others. Not a line the Republicans want to even get close to.
