It's like with cars. It's nobody's business what you do with your cars on your private property. It's when you drive out on the public that is our business.
Who is 'our'? It is not your business where I drive my car.

Do you think the Republicans are any better?
Only by degree. The Democrats want to impose a full-on Leftist authoritarian, Socialist régime on us, while the Republicans just want more the traditional power of a society with a sort of nobility running it. They at least don't want to impose serfdom on the population as they recognize that would be bad for their business.
Providing how? I agree they certainly "care" more, but talk is cheap. Republicans, of course, don't give a shit.I believe the Democrats already are ahead of providing better mental health care than the reps.

Well, for instance, Medicaid and Medicare are essential to getting good mental health care. Pills aren't cheap, and neither are psychiatrists and counselors.
Agreed on all points. Where the Democrats fail is prioritizing banning guns over providing better mental health care.
Getting stubborn people to accept mental care might actually be more difficult than trying to limit assault weapons. Even if it was all paid for many would refuse any and all treatment.
It's a lot more difficult. My point is that, like Republicans giving lip-service to Christianity, Democrats only give lip-service to better mental healthcare in their quest to ban firearms.
Ban certain weapons is more truthful than ban firearms. We already ban plenty of weapons but many 2nd amendment types think they are entitled to even greater weapons.
