The GOP's fear of truth

Democrats aren't in a good place right now, and they really need to find themselves again as a party. But they're still head & shoulders above a party that no longer values truth or knowledge.

Republicans in the past few years conjure images from authoritarian regimes of the past that we thought we had moved beyond:
- Burning books
- Afraid of acknowledging the reality that some are born and live their lives attracted to the same sex
- Terrified of teaching aspects of American history that don't make us look like heroes
- Creating myths and fabrications about an election because they can no longer accept losing
- Downplaying a pandemic and discouraging vaccines with fearmongering and misinformation

Even w/ something like the Ukraine, we hear some conservatives actually parroting Putin's desperate rhetoric that the Ukraine leaders are "Nazis" and trying to downplay the evil of Putin's actions.

We're in the post-truth era, and the right is leading the charge.

I find Biden's refusal to have the DOJ indict Trump to be self sabotage.

The far left Democrat Socialist message:

We support teaching perversion to your six year old daughters and sons.

Inflation is transitory...lol

It's counter instinctual but do you know where actual change may occur? From calling out your own side. For obvious reasons we generally don't that. But the reality is I could make a similar post about what the left is doing wrong and then we could go back and forth over which 'side' does it worse and we all become entrenched in our partisan/tribal positions and nothing is accomplished and nothing has changed (although we each may feel good that we 'stuck it to the other side').

Now calling out your side will likely get you backlash and in such a tribal environment no one wants to do that. But that's where you might have actual influence for change. Far more than what we normally do.
