The future climate - the planet is giving us a glimpse

Which, personally, I think is very nice of the planet.

And no - I'm not saying one weather event means anything. But, it is showing us what a likely future outcome will be. Global temps pushing and exceeding 100, the polar caps melting at accelerated rates.

Honestly, even the Green New Deal doesn't go far enough. We need a revolution in terms of energy use and conservation. It won't happen - but it's what we need. Conservatives always say that environmentalists are alarmists and have been doing the "boy cries wolf" routine for decades - but what they don't seem to realize is that most predictions about the climate and our planet have come true. We've just gotten used to the changes.

Ironically, ground zero for global warming denialism, the southern United States, is going to get baked and broiled the worst. I hope they don't mind triple digits weather in April and May and no relief from the relentless heat until November

I understand as Americans we can only vote in our country. But climate change is a global thing. What are we going to do with India and China?

That's an important question, because we could reduce emissions to zero and it wouldn't change anything, due to the rest of the world & the countries you mentioned.

I have always felt that all America can do is lead. If we can successfully pursue a path on energy and environmentalism - that actually improves economies and lives - others will follow suit.

It's all we can do, in addition to persuading. We can't force other countries to do anything.

I think I read we all need to get down to a per capita carbon footprint per person of between 2 to 4 tons of emissions per year.

USA currently has far and away the most intense per capita carbon footprint per person of about 15 tons per year.

China is around 7 tons/year per person
India is around 2 tons/year per person
Japan and Germany are around 10 tons/year per person.

sure.....you're not saying that......you're just saying you've found an isolated weather event that fits your fantasies and you plan to run with it.........

but what they don't seem to realize is that most predictions about the climate and our planet have come true.

and you don't seem to realize none of them have.......

The Chinese have made no bones about the fact that they want to be top dog. Xi just can't believe his luck that the likes of Biden are determined to help him by hamstringing the West's energy economy. Look to Germany to see what will happen when you allow imbeciles like the Greens to control energy policy. Even now they are steadfastly against reopening the last three nuclear power stations, preferring instead to support lignite burning power stations instead.

A lot of people think that since the predictions of a global warming caused ice age from the 1970's didn't happen, it proves the whole thing is a hoax or stubborn bad science.
:palm:
Well, in the last 25 years you have increasing intense weather episodes, from wild, prolonged winter storms to unprecedented heat waves. And right now in the USA, you have major rivers and water sources dropping to dangerous levels.

I feel sorry for the younger generation, because they're going to spend a good portion of their lives living in what use to be sci-fi movies on ecological disasters and a dystopian society living in domed cities against a polluted atmosphere.

Yeah, we're past the tipping point....it's just a question of how bad it's going to get based on global actions/reactions.

Is further proof needed?

China Accelerates Approvals Of Coal-Fired Power Plants

China has accelerated the approval of coal-fired power plants this year, and in the first quarter alone, it approved new coal capacity equal to nearly half of all the coal-fired capacity approved for the whole of 2021, Greenpeace said on Wednesday.

China gave the green light to as much as 8.63 gigawatts (GW) of new coal-fired power plants in the first quarter of 2022 alone, which was equal to 46.55% of all the coal capacity approved throughout 2021, the environmental group said in a research report.

Earth doesn't care about you.

Yes you are.

It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth. It certainly isn't 100 deg F though.
the polar caps melting at accelerated rates.
They aren't.
Honestly, even the Green New Deal doesn't go far enough.
Here comes the call for fascism.
We need a revolution in terms of energy use and conservation.
You don't get to control the energy market. Fascism.
It won't happen - but it's what we need.
Why?
Conservatives always say that environmentalists are alarmists and have been doing the "boy cries wolf" routine for decades
Q.E.D.

What predictions?
We've just gotten used to the changes.
What changes?

Meh. They're used to it.

Climate cannot change. There is no value associated with climate. There is no such thing as a global climate.
No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth. You cannot create energy out of nothing. See the 1st law of thermodynamics.

Where do we 'stick it in' to get the planet's temperature, Haiti maybe? :awesome:

No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth, dumbass. You can't create energy out of nothing. You are AGAIN ignoring the 1st law of thermodynamics.
