Stop being disingenuous. You are comparing apples to oranges. Let's compare apples to apples. Here, in order to pass a constitutional amendment, you need 2/3rds of congress to vote to pass it. After which, 3/4ths of the states must vote to affirm it.

It is a grave matter with impact and consequences more far-reaching than any single election.

You know, like Brexit was.

yes. it's fundamental decision of where/to whom UK's sovereignty lies.
It's not a question of temporary governance.

They appear to be completely leaderless at the moment, and search parties have to be sent to unearth Johnson and Gove. Or any of them. Cameron has resigned. The EU is marshaling its forces (and its attorneys) and England is rudderless and leaderless. How is this going to calm markets, the EU, or anyone?

What a disaster for them. My God.

I don't think they ever expected to win. I think Johnson used this expecting to lose, to Remain, and then to use widespread Leaver rage to propel himself into office at a later date.

Precisely! The U.K. We're tired of their laws being dictated by an unelected body with no sense of domestic love or care of its citizens.

I also posted an article from HuffPo that said the same thing, Boris is a moron equal to Trump, he only thought of himself and not the nation and the complexities of leaving the EU.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing the buffoon Trump would pull. It's scary. Holy shit. And you're right about Grind, he has exposed himself as a full-fledged Trumpeteer. This is what they want to give us here in the US. Can you imagine?

from what I know (and the particulars are not my strong point) Brussels was centralizing more and more power without really any real consideration of it's members.

Prodi admits Europeans view Brussels as remote

The European Commission admitted yesterday it had lost the confidence of millions of Europeans, and unveiled plans to throw open decision-making, cut red tape and regain the trust of disenchanted citizens.

In a long-awaited White Paper, Romano Prodi, the Commission's president, acknowledged a "widening gulf" between Europe and its voters, who saw Brussels as "remote" and "too intrusive". The paper promised to step up contacts with pressure groups and regional politicians.

The initiative has been given added urgency by the violent protests that marred the G8 summit in Genoa, and the Irish referendum rejection of the Nice Treaty in June.

The proposals include moves to guarantee consultation with outside groups under a new code of conduct and to boost online information systems to inform ordinary people.

Brussels also wants to simplify its structures.

Mr Prodi said an early aim was to trim the body of EU legislation, which, at 80,000 pages was "far too much", and streamline the Commission's 700 advisory committees.

This is dated, and there was a white paper ( reform) done since then that I'm not going to delve into.
But these problems seem systematic, unless drastic reforms took place since then

Brussels obviously, as our own political class here, suffered major disconnect from domestic realities in England. Good article.
 
Apparently a domino effect is feared. But let's all pretend a few interviews with post leave voters is the real story.

EU isn't working in its current state:
