He was a man not a boy. You of course use the word boy because you want to keep the vision of a 12 year old little boy in peoples mind to stir passions and not facts. You don't want the image of a 17 year old man, wannabe thug, who bragged about smoking dope, getting in fights etc. Now before you get all mental. None of those things means he deserved to die (of course me saying this won't stop you from saying it). But, it does paint a different picture of what possibly happened that night.
You see if in your mind you can still see Travyon as the 12 year old boy as the media portrayed him in their earlier reporting, then it seems inconceivable that he would attack Zimmerman, thus Zimmermans argument for self defense is gone.
But, if the real Trayvon is allowed to emerge. The Trayvon who was suspended from school from drugs, who bragged about smoking dope, who bragged about getting in fights and wanting to a thug. Well, then that creates a different picture doesn't it? Again, it doesn't mean that because Martin did all of those things he deserved to die. Of course it doesn't. But, what it does do is paint a picture of an individual that quite possibly could have been the aggressor that evening. Well, since in your mind Zimmerman is already guilty and nothing will dissuade you, the vision of Martin the BOY will forever live on in your mind.
Those of us in the know call it cognitive dissonance. You my dear happen to be one of the biggest purveyors of cognitive dissonance on JPP.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI have opened an investigation into the "facts and circumstances" surrounding the killing of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager shot and killed last month by a neighborhood watch captain in an Orlando suburb.
The department will "conduct a thorough and independent review of all evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation," according to a statement late Monday.
The announcement comes as the drumbeat around the case continues to grow, becoming national news and shining a brighter media spotlight on the city of Sanford, where the killing occurred, and its police department, which handled the initial investigation that so far has failed to bring charges.
Since when do the FBI and DOJ get involved in a local Homicide that violated no Federal Statute?

The Feds were looking for evidence that this was hate crime, in a city where there was a history of racial tension going back years. This was separate from the state.
Now point out where in the article does it say the feds PRESSURED the state to charge GZ.

And Zimmerman left his car with a loaded weapon when he could have drove away...at that point, Zimmerman became the aggressor.
Self.defense.and stand your ground do not include "provoking" as a claim of innocence. Otherwise every bar room fight that ends.in a death would qualify.

Hate crime? Really... was there any evidence uncovered to show it was a Hate Crime? Is it not the responsibility of local officers and State officers to call in the Feds rather then the Feds conducting an independent investigation where no federal crime occurred?
The local Authorities did NOT call in the Feds... The DOJ unilaterally made the decision.
And who controls the DOJ and the FBI? Eric Holder... Who sits on the Cabinet... And takes his orders from the man who said...

Could.be the initial.report.of Zimmerman's 911 transcript using a racial slur...which indicated racial profiling.....later on, it was garbled and wasn't necessarily a slur.

GZ didn't testify and I don't care about his previous issues, just like I didn't care about TMs previous history. I based my opinion on the facts and testimony at trial.

Provocation doesn't matter. Like I said....if that were the case, barroom deaths wouldn't be prosecuted....a man shooting his wife's lover wouldn't be prosecuted....provocation is no excuse for taking another's life. This isn't Tombstone Arizona.in the late 1800's.
