Incoming New York attorney general plans wide-ranging investigations of Trump and family


New York Attorney Gen.-elect Letitia James says she plans to launch sweeping investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and "anyone" in his circle who may have violated the law once she settles into her new job next month.

"We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well," James, a Democrat, told NBC News in her first extensive interview since she was elected last month.

James outlined some of the probes she intends to pursue with regard to the president, his businesses and his family members. They include:

* Any potential illegalities involving Trump's real estate holdings in New York, highlighting a New York Times investigation published in October into the president's finances.

* The June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian official.

* Examine government subsidies Trump received, which were also the subject of Times investigative work.

* Whether he is in violation of the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution through his New York businesses.

*Continue to probe the Trump Foundation.

I remember anti-Trumpers feigned outrage with the mere possibility of Trump abusing the justice system to go after political opponents. It appears now they’re in favor of it. That sort of cognitive dissonance alone must be tough to live with.

Except that there is no abuse other than duly appointed (and mostly by Toadstool) law enforcement officials doing what they are sworn to do -- investigate criminal activity and bring the culprit(s) to justice.

Here's the thing about Toadstool. It's been known for decades that he's a con man, a liar, a crook, a thief, a low-life, a buffoon, an attention-seeking sleaze with money to buy his way out of legal troubles. For the most part authorities were (wrongfully) content to look the other way. But then he magically (and quite likely illegally) got elected President, and started crapping on the system that put him in that exalted position. He isn't doing anything different when it comes to his fan club -- he continues to shit on them and laugh at them (i.e. you) behind their backs, and exploit them to soothe his ego. But now he's attacking the very system and the ppl that have allowed him to skate all these years. He's flaunting our laws and demeaning those who uphold them. What else do you expect to happen?

Piling on even more frivolous witch hunts only increases the stench of partisan bias, corruption, and desperation...almost as much as manufacturing the initial fraud that a couple of Facebook ads could (or were ever expected to) change the outcome of a U.S. presidential election, based entirely on a fake Hillary-funded dossier, to justify inventing a myriad of other BS scandals, to justify overthrowing a duly-elected president...all while pretending to be saving "democracy"...while destroying it.
