The El Rato Ammendment

I used to not like the idea of term limits upon Congress, but, I'd say we've gotten to a point where it would be good to have.

We have term limits on the president, so why not congress?

What we really need is term limits on supreme court judges. This lifetime appointment stuff is crazy. They should serve ONE 6 year term and then be gone.

It doesn't matter who opposes it.
Impossible to ratify=waste of time like all the nimrod proposals you support.

Oh, no, forcing a bunch of corrupt bureaucrats to expose themselves out in the open is definitely a good thing. Wherever someone attempts to plug a hole, the public will know where to swing the sledgehammer.

I'd rather see a citizens council to make impeachments and toss the shitty ones out of office immediately.

Sure it is a good idea
Just almost impossible to ratify.
Minus the bill of rights we have one ammendment per 30 years, arguably less than one per generation. Look at the ERA for a clue as to the level of difficulty.

Meh, we had four in the 1910s, two in the 30s, one in the 50s, three in the 60s, one in the 70s, and one in the 90s. We just happen to be in a 24+ year drought at the moment. Passing this amendment would keep us below the 30 year threshold.

So you've gone from "impossible" to "good idea... almost impossible".

Just because a task is difficult doesn't mean that it should be given up on. That's the same poor decision you made about obtaining an engineering degree and look at where it got you.

You're most likely right....I don't see Congressmen giving up their cushy jobs for the sake of good government.

And it sets up a constitutional issue concerning the will of the voters to elect the person of their choice...

The ERA should have passed.
Plus like Bravo pointed out the legislators don't want it.
